1:51 a.m. Oct. 17 — Jesse Staaf, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Meridian and Whitestown roads. Police said Staaf's car struck a curb at the Sheetz parking lot on Route 68. The vehicle continued onto Meridian Road before pulling onto the southbound berm.Charges are pending in the investigation.
9:33 p.m. Tuesday — Jeffrey D. Gill, 54, was arrested after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend, 44-year-old Brady Jo Hundley, with a knife at their home on Kelly Boulevard.Police suspect the defendant and alleged victim had been drinking when he came at her with a kitchen knife, according to court documents. She called 911. No injuries were reported.During the domestic disturbance, a neighbor who was visiting, managed to take photos of Gill holding the knife, police said.Gill was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.
7:26 p.m. Saturday — Brandon A. Dolan, 22, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman while holding a fixed-blade pocket knife during an altercation at his home on Millheim Road in Center Township.He was arraigned on a charge of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, and placed in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.7:43 a.m. Saturday — Martin J. Irwin, 28, of Harmony was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a one-vehicle rollover wreck in Worth Township.Police said Irwin lost control of his car on Route 108 just west of Barron Road. The vehicle went off the road and then returned to the road before overturning on its roof.Irwin, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with apparent minor injuries. The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire company and Slippery Rock Ambulance assisted at the scene.Saturday — Police reported that they are searching for two boys who escaped from the Summit Academy reform school on Herman Road in Summit Township.The boys — a white 16-year-old and a black 17-year-old — left the facility about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and were last seen about 8:30 p.m. in the area of Bonniebrook Road and Pine Drive.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Wednesday — Ronald G. Henry Jr., 30, was charged with having marijuana stemming from a search last month at his home in Center Township.Vice officers on Sept. 26 did what is known as a “knock-and-talk” investigation at Henry's house on Meadow Court. Police said the investigation was stirred by a tip of a strong odor of marijuana coming from the house, according to court documents.The defendant opened the door but quickly shut it, releasing a whiff of marijuana for the officers. Police left but returned later that night with a search warrant.During the search, documents said, officers found marijuana, prescription pills and other contraband.Henry is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Monday — An Allegheny County man was charged with being more than three times the legal limit for alcohol when he was stopped last month during a speed enforcement detail in Buffalo Township.Police said they pulled over Richard C. Matisz, 34, of Cheswick for going 81 mph on a 65 mph zone on Route 28 near the Millerstown exit. He admitted that he was coming from Freeport and that he had been drinking at a bar, according to court documents.He was arrested after a portable breath test confirmed he had alcohol in his system. Results of a subsequent blood test, documents said, showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.292 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Matisz is charged with driving under the influence, speeding and careless driving.3:29 a.m. Oct. 22 — A North Carolina man was arrested for drunken driving after police say they saw his car cross the center double yellow lines and the white fog line on Route 8 near McCandless Road in Center Township.The defendant, Mitchell A. McKnight, 22, of Jacksonville, admitted having two or three beers that night, according to court documents. He later failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.179 percent.McKnight is charged with DUI, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.Oct. 20 — Police charged a Washington County man with being more than nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol and on drugs stemming from a two-vehicle crash earlier this month in Worth Township.The defendant, Wayne R. Glenn, 57, of Lawrence, and his damaged sport utility vehicle were found at the scene of the wreck that happened about 1:39 p.m. Oct. 4 on Interstate 79 at the New Castle Road exit.Glenn claimed he had consumed no alcohol since the previous evening, according to court documents, but he admitted he “was prescribed and had taken narcotics.” He subsequently failed field sobriety testing.During their investigation, police saw a case of beer in the back seat of Glenn's vehicle. They also noticed an open container of mouthwash in a cup holder and a container with several pills in it.Police took the defendant to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.237 percent. He also tested positive for morphine and oxycodone, documents said.Glenn is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, and separate counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance. He also was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.
