Police reports as of July 28
The following items were collected from various police departments and district courts:
July 13 — Aaron James Diehl, 22, of Butler, was charged with two felony forgery counts and misdemeanor theft following a July 7 incident. Police said Diehl attempted to use $280 in fraudulent currency.
July 14 — Carrie Lynn Nolan, 49, of Butler, was charged with felony contraband possession following a July 2 incident. Police said Nolan attempted to conceal a blue stamp bag in Butler County Prison.
July 15 — Carrie Ann Miller, 43, of Nanty Glo, was charged with felony retail theft following a July 14 incident in Center Township. Police said Miller participated in and knew a retail theft was going to occur.
July 15 — Joshua Todd Bennett, 35, of Evans City, was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession following a June 27 traffic stop in Center Township. Police said Bennett had a small amount of marijuana.
July 15 — Ryan Hale Sefton, 46, of Cabot, was charged with two misdemeanor DUI counts following a July 3 traffic stop in Center Township. Police said Sefton had a blood alcohol content of 0.173%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
July 15 — Merle E. Hemphill Jr., 64, of Slippery Rock, was charged with two misdemeanor DUI counts following a March 10 crash in Clay Township. Police said Hemphill had a blood alcohol content of 0.204%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
July 15 — Patricia J. Gorski, 60, of Sarver, was charged with two misdemeanor DUI counts following a July 2 traffic stop in Center Township. Police said Gorski had a blood alcohol content of 0.086%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
July 15 — Carol J. Smeltzer, 56, of Bruin, was charged with two misdemeanor DUI counts following a July 10 crash in Bruin. Police said Smeltzer had a blood alcohol content of 0.175%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
July 15 — Joseph P. Belschner, 42, of Boyers, was charged with three misdemeanor DUI counts and one misdemeanor count each of drug paraphernalia possession and marijuana possession following a June 9 traffic stop in Clay Township. Police said Belschner had marijuana, a glass smoking device, tested positive for THC and had a blood alcohol content of 0.218%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.
July 15 — Thomas Paul Crawford, 65, of Chicora, was charged with misdemeanor DUI following a July 2 incident. Police said Crawford showed signs of impairment.
July 15 — Derrick David Cotten, 31, of West Sunbury, was charged with felony DUI following a July 5 traffic stop in Center Township. Police said Cotten showed signs of impairment.
July 18 — Police investigated a two-vehicle crash on New Castle Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Brayden L. Umberger, 20, of Slippery Rock, drove into the vehicle of Jason Lehman, 54, of Cranberry Township. Lehman’s passenger, Anne M. Lehman, 56, of Cranberry Township, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with possible injuries.
