Tuesday — Police charged Marc A. Blodgett, 26, of Butler with theft for allegedly stealing appliances and other property from a city apartment earlier this year. The alleged victim, Judith Lyons, told police that she allowed Blodgett to move into the apartment, which he was to remodel in lieu of rent.Lyons, however, eventually had to evict the suspect, according to court documents. She said when she checked on the apartment she found a number of items were missing.Missing items included a refrigerator, stove, carpeting, five lawn chairs, two antique wooden chairs and a 24-foot extension ladder. The property allegedly was taken between Jan. 1 and 6.Police on Feb. 25 spoke to Blodgett at the Butler County Prison, where he was earlier jailed on unrelated charges. He admitted taking the items from the Butler apartment and scrapping them, documents said.State police, meanwhile, arrested Blodgett and another man on Feb. 16 after they allegedly broke into a home on Route 68 in Forward Township. Blodgett and his suspected accomplice, Kristoffer M. Ion, 21, of Center Township, are accused of stealing two rifles from the house.Both men are charged in that case with burglary, conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
5:55 p.m. Saturday — Two Butler area teenagers were hurt when their car crashed into two trees and rolled onto its roof along Lions Road just south of South Benbrook Road in Center Township. Krystal R. Trinkley, 19, the driver, and her passenger, Rachel I. Campbell, 19, suffered minor injuries.Trinkley, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital. Campbell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated at the scene. Police said Trinkley was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Greenwood Village and Unionville volunteer firefighters assisted police at the scene.4:40 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Gregory Durban, 44, of Prospect flipped onto its roof after sliding off the road and hitting a small ditch on Sawyer Road just east of Pfeifer Road in Muddy Creek Township.3:48 p.m. Saturday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Michael J. Gladd, 42, of McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, and a car driven by Melanie A. Short, 23, of Butler collided on Lower Harmony Road, just east of Kennedy Road in Connoquenessing Township. Police said Gladd was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.6:40 a.m. Friday — A 17-year-old Butler boy lost control of his SUV causing it to roll over after hitting an embankment on Bonniebrook Road, about one-quarter mile north of Pine Drive in Summit Township. The vehicle landed on it wheels. Police said the boy, who they did not identify, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.1:19 p.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Raymond L. Eyth, 47, of Chicora and a car driven by Beth A. Unger, 55, of Pittsburgh collided at Route 356 and Winfield Road in Winfield Township. Police said Eyth was cited for driving too fast for conditions.12:02 p.m. Wednesday — A 315-foot spool of copper ground wire was taken from a company vehicle on Victory Lane in Clinton Township. Consolidated Communications of Gibsonia owns the wire.11:44 p.m. Feb. 11 — Desiree S. Crawford, 25, and Jason P. Williams, 39, both of Slippery Rock were arrested after a domestic dispute on Walker Lane in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Crawford and Williams both are charged with simple assault.
