Friday — Police said Michael Fonzo, 33, of Utica, and James Ford, 54, of West Sunbury were involved in a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 8 and Evans Road. Police said Fonzo ran a red light and hit Ford’s vehicle, which was stopped at a red light at the intersection. Police said Fonzo was cited for careless driving. No one was injured.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock Police[/naviga:h3]

Sunday — Police charged an Erie man with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at about 11:50 p.m. Oct. 14 on North Main Street near Slippery Rock Elementary School. The suspect, Robert E. Abelyan, 20, was pulled over for not having his lights on.

He was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.092 percent. Under state law, a level of 0.02 percent is considered intoxicated for an adult younger than 21.

Abelyan is charged with driving under the influence by a minor, underage drinking, minors prohibited from driving with any alcohol in their system and a lighting violation,

11:53 p.m. Monday — A Beaver County woman was arrested after she allegedly wielded a meat cleaver and threatened to kill Jessica Erdos during an altercation at the victim’s home on Winters Road in Penn Township.

The suspect, Essence N. Wilson, 27, of Aliquippa, is also accused of damaging property in the home. She is charged with terroristic threats, criminal mischief and harassment.

Erdos told police that earlier in the evening she drove Wilson’s boyfriend to Butler, according to court documents. When she returned home, she found that Wilson had damaged household items and punched out the kitchen door window.

When the victim confronted the defendant, Wilson, while holding a meat cleaver, allegedly yelled to Erdos, ‘If I’m going to jail then you’re going to die.”

Erdos ran from the home to the end of the driveway and called 911.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Wilson on charges, and remanded her to Butler County Prison on $20,000 bail.

Monday — Azza M. Gaines, 38, of Concord Township was charged with driving on prescription medication with a young child in her sport utility vehicle following a traffic stop earlier this month in Center Township.

Police said they stopped Gaines about 10 p.m. Oct. 7 after her SUV crossed the yellow line twice and the white fog line once, according to court documents. The vehicle’s brake lights also were not working.

The defendant failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed she had the prescription anti seizure and pain medicine gabapentin in her system, documents said.

Gaines is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, child endangerment, driving without insurance, driving without valid inspection, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to keep right, careless driving and a lighting violation.

Monday — Police charged two Cabot women with taking assorted items in May from the property of a home on the 800 block of Winfield Road in Winfield Township.

Kerry McCann, 58, and Patricia A. Simms, 58, are accused of taking the items, valued at $1,395, without the owner’s knowledge.

One of the victims, Robert Bicker, told police that the defendants, who represented themselves as antique pickers, had approached him and his wife several times expressing interest in some belongings on his property, according to court documents.

Later some of the items turned up missing, police said. Bicker said he never gave McCann or Simms permission to take anything. The defendants, however, claimed they believed they had his permission.

Police noted that some of the property, about $200 worth, has been recovered.

McCann and Simms are both charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.

Sunday — Police charged a Mercer County woman with using her bra to try and hide marijuana from police following a traffic stop last month in Slippery Rock Township.

Yuliya M. Gil, 34, of Greenville was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding about 10 p.m. Sept. 29 on Mercer Road. Police said they smelled marijuana when they got to the car, according to court documents.

The driver, Justin M. Holley, 32, of Greenville, admitted that he had marijuana, and placed it on the front passenger side floor. But when police went to search the vehicle, documents said, they could not find the marijuana.

When troopers asked Gil where the missing evidence was, she removed two suspected marijuana cigarettes that were in her bra.

Gil and Holley are both charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Gil is charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution by concealing evidence, and Holley is charged with speeding.

Sunday — Heather L. Fullwood, 37, of New Castle was charged with having cocaine and other drug contraband following a one-vehicle crash last month in Muddy Creek Township.

Police said while investigating the wreck on Route 422 at Route 19, they noticed a clear baggie with suspected cocaine in it on the driver’s side floor board, according to court documents.

They also found two drug-smoking pipes and other drug-related items in the vehicle’s center console.

Fullwood is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, failing to keep right, making an improper pass and disregarding traffic lanes.

Oct. 18 — Scott L. Moyer, 29, of Slippery Rock allegedly stole $50 from his stepmother at her home in Mercer Township.

Police said when they contacted Moyer he admitted taking the money to buy heroin, according to court documents. He is charged with theft.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

Tuesday — Police said Mary M. Connolly, 23, of Kittanning was cited for driving at an unsafe speed after her Volkswagen Jetta rear-ended a Ford Escape driven by Deborah A. Mangol, 62, of Sarver, on Route 28 in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County.

Police said Connolly suffered injuries to her nose and face in the crash and was taken to UPMC St. Margaret’s hospital for treatment.

Tuesday — Police said Megan J. Bowser, 21, of Templeton was driving south on Route 28 in O’Hara Township, Allegheny County, when her Volkswagen Jetta rear-ended a GMC Sierra driven by Matthew W. Pyle, 47, of Karns City.

Police said no one was injured in the crash. Bowser was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

6:27 a.m. Saturday — A Philadelphia woman was hurt in a one-car crash in Pine Township, Mercer County. The wreck happened when Tyerra C. Griffin, 25, lost control of her car and struck a utility pole along George Junior Road just east of Rosewood Lane.

The car, after hitting the pole, spun into two mailboxes and posts. Griffin, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with an apparent minor injury. The Pine Township Engine Company assisted at the scene.

Police cited Griffin for driving at an unsafe speed.

[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

4:50 p.m. Saturday — Darren J. Kolarik, 39, of Portersville lost control of his car and struck a guardrail on Route 19 just north of Shady Trail in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Police cited him for driving at an unsafe speed and not wearing a seat belt.
