Oct. 26 — Ronald E. Litzinger, 36, of Butler was charged with DUI in connection with a September motorcycle crash in Center Township that left him severely injured. Police said he lost control of his Harley-Davidson about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 and hit a tree along Route 308 at Belleshire Road.
Another motorist told police that shortly before the wreck, the defendant nearly struck his car. The cycle went off the road, flipped several times and hit the tree. Litzinger was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of injuries.
Police subsequently got a search warrant to conduct a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol was 0.15 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
In addition to DUI, Litzinger is charged with not having a proper driver’s license, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
[naviga:h3]Butler Police[/naviga:h3]
1 p.m. Monday — Steven L. McCardle, 26, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute on South Chestnut Street at Negely Avenue.
Police said the woman told them McCardle hit her during an altercation over their children. She had bruising and redness to her right arm, according to court documents.
McCardle was arrested while walking north on Chestnut Street. Police said he was found with a small bag of suspected marijuana and a marijuana pipe.
He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance.
12:50 a.m. Sunday — A man and women were caught behind bushes at a home in Amy Avenue where they were not permitted. Police said they also found a syringe near where the pair were standing.
One of the suspects, Joshua D. Good, 30, of Butler, admitted that he and Cortney M. Mortimer, 35 of DuBois, Clearfield County, were “shooting up heroin,” according to court documents.
Police eventually learned that Mortimer, who had given a bogus name, was wanted on a warrant out of Clearfield County. Additionally, a search of her purse turned up a used syringe.
Mortimer and Good are both charged with loitering and prowling at night, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mortimer also is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities.
She was arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail and for the warrant.
8:49 p.m. Oct. 31 — Alecia S. Norfleet, 41, of Butler Township was arrested after she was allegedly found with suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia on the 400 block of North Washington Street.
Police said they were investigating a call for a woman looking into windows when they found Norfleet in an apartment building, attempting to light a crack pipe containing crack, according to court documents. A search of her purse turned up multiple crack pipes and crack residue.
Norfleet was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.

Monday — Police reported three boys — ages, 15, 16, and 17 — were charged in connection with a Sept. 8 altercation on a school bus that was traveling on Hansen Avenue.
Two of the students, according to a police report, threw backpacks at one another and then got into a fight. The 15-year-old and 17-year-old are both charged with disorderly conduct and harassment. The 16-year-old is charged with disorderly conduct
4:50 p.m. Thursday — One person was hurt when a vehicle driven by Mason Meredith, 18, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County struck another vehicle at the Butler Commons shopping plaza. Blace Shaffer, 25, of Butler was the other driver.
Shaffer’s passenger, who police did not identify, suffered a minor injury but refused medical treatment.

Friday — An Armstrong County woman was charged with refusing to stop for police after they say she illegally passed a school bus on Route 422 just west of Bonniebrook Road last month in Summit Township.
Tonya L. Rob, 65, of Worthington is accused of passing the yellow marked bus, which was stopped about 8:30 a.m. Oct. 18, and had its flashing lights on and stop sign extended. Children were entering the bus.
A trooper saw Rob’s sport utility vehicle pass the bus, according to court documents. When she passed, the officer activated his light and siren and tried to pull over the defendant.
“(Rob) looked directly at me and shrugged,” the trooper said in his affidavit, “as I motioned for her to pull the vehicle over.”
She continued traveling on Route 422 before turning right onto the East Jefferson Street off-ramp and stopped at a red light.
Rob is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, unlawfully passing a school bus, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, driving a vehicle with a suspended registration and reckless driving.
Oct. 30 — Police charged Jerald L. Lorenz, 35, with stealing his mother’s debit card at their Summit Township home earlier this month and using it to make several transactions. The crime happened between Oct. 18 and 19.
Police said they have video surveillance showing Lorenz using the victim’s Butler Armco debit card. He is charged with first-degree misdemeanor counts of theft and access device fraud.
Oct. 30 — Jennifer E. Bush, 34, of Concord Township was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a one-vehicle crash earlier in the month in Fairview Township. Police said she wrecked about 10:45 p.m. Oct. 1 on Fir Road just south of Hooker Road.
The defendant admitted that she had consumed a large glass of vodka before driving that night, according to court documents. She also acknowledged that she was taking different medication.
Bush failed field sobriety tests and a blood test at Butler Memorial Hospital later showed she had alcohol and unspecified drugs in her system.
She is charged with DUI, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
Oct. 26 — Kimberly S. Rape, 27, of Slippery Rock was charged with drugged driving stemming from a March one-vehicle crash on Route 8 in Clay Township that left her trapped in her car and in need of hospital treatment for injuries.
Police said Rape lost control of the vehicle about 8 a.m. March 29 and traveled over an embankment and hit a tree. Unionville volunteer firefighters had to extricate Rape from the wreckage.
Witnesses told investigators that before the crash they had seen Rape driving erratically between the Old Stone House and the crash scene, a 3½-mile stretch, according to court documents.
During the crash investigation, police found a metal drug pipe.
The defendant was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. She told police that she had taken prescription medication the prior night and was traveling to her boyfriend’s house in Butler when she wrecked, documents said. The defendant said she could not remember what happened.
Toxicology results from a blood test subsequently showed she had cocaine, a metabolite of cocaine, and the anti-anxiety medication alprazolam in her system.
Rape is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
11 a.m. Oct. 23 — Jodie L. Undercuffler, 40, of Summit Township allegedly shoplifted $17.49 worth of merchandise at the Dollar General store on Route 422 east in Summit Township.
Police said store surveillance video showed the defendant placing hygiene items in her purse while pushing a shopping car, according to court documents. She left the store without paying for the items.
Undercuffler is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
2:24 a.m. Monday — A Ford City man was hurt when his car struck a deer on Route 28 at the Slate Lick exit in South Buffalo Township. Richard J. Deshong, 36, suffered a minor injury. Police said he was wearing his seat and the car’s airbags deployed.
South Buffalo volunteer firefighters and a Freeport EMS crew assisted at the scene.
