7:52 p.m. Monday — A 31-year-old Butler man suffered an apparent overdose at a friend’s home on the 500 block of West Brady Street.
A Butler Ambulance Service crew was first on scene and found Kenneth Gratzinger II unconscious on the first floor. A 25-year-old woman who lives there identified Gratzinger but she told authorities she did not know what he took, according to a police report.
He was eventually revived with two doses of the opioid antidote Narcan. He refused medical treatment. Police said they found two syringes in his pants pocket.
Police arrested Gratzinger after they learned that was wanted on a probation warrant and a state parole warrant. He was placed in the Butler County Prison.
10:34 p.m. Saturday — Katrina J. Drazina, 20, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her former live-in boyfriend during a domestic dispute at her home on the 500 block of North Monroe Street.
Police spoke to the victim, Brian Maire, who said he had gone to the home to pick up some of his belongings. But when he walked in, according to court documents, Drazina began to yell at him and she eventually pushed and hit him several times in the upper body.
Officers noted Maire had redness and swelling on his right arm and right shoulder and neck area.
Drazina was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and released on her own recognizance.
8:26 a.m. Thursday — William D. Dutter, 60, of Butler was arrested for felony shoplifting after he ate a banana and a piece of pie at the A-Plus convenience store on East Jefferson Street.
Dutter, who has six prior shoplifting convictions, left the store without paying for the food, valued at a combined $2.78, according to court documents.
He was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft, and released on his own recognizance.
Thursday — Police charged a Beaver County man with passing a bogus check to his former landlord in July. The suspect, Benjamin Ross, 28, of Ambridge, on July 11 wrote the $830 check that was given to John Marten.
The check subsequently bounced and Marten, in turn, sent Ross a certified letter to the defendant’s then address on the 300 block of West Jefferson Street, according to court documents.
Marten on Aug. 29 filed a police report after the defendant failed to make restitution.
Ross is charged with a second-degree misdemeanor count of bad checks.

7:04 p.m. Saturday — Russell D. Stroup, 39, of West Sunbury was caught allegedly shoplifting $386.94 in merchandise at the Butler Commons Walmart. Police said an employee stopped him trying to leave the store without paying for a coffee maker, pellet gun and two electric shavers.
Stroup, who has one prior shoplifting conviction, is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.
Oct. 18 — Donald E. Prokopchak, 81, of Butler Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a hit-and-run accident last month on Old Plank Road at Litman Road. Police said Prokopchak’s minivan about 11:15 p.m. Sept. 22 struck a guardrail and did not stop.
Another motorist witnessed the wreck and saw the defendant pull into the South Butler fire hall parking lot, get out of his van and inspect the damage to the vehicle, according to court documents. He got back into the van and drove away.
The witness followed the van and police pulled Prokopchak over on Vogel Road near Randy Drive, not far from his home.
Prokopchak subsequently failed field sobriety testing and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.154 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with hit-and-run, careless driving and failing to keep right.
Oct. 18 — Police charged Brandon A. Dolan, 22, of Center Township with assaulting another man during an altercation last month outside the Sheetz convenience store on Center Avenue. Dolan about 1:20 a.m. Sept. 19 allegedly punched Michael Werner in the head.
Police spoke to Werner at Butler Memorial Hospital, where he was being treated in the emergency room for injuries that included a badly swollen right eye. He gave his version of what happened.
He recounted being in the front passenger seat of a friend’s car at the store when three men walked over to the vehicle and started talking. He eventually told them to go away.
“Werner then stated that he remembers being punched two or three times in the head,” according to court documents. He rolled up his window and told his friend to drive away.
He provided descriptions of the three men for police, who went to the Sheetz to review surveillance video. The footage, documents said, showed three men get out of a vehicle and walk over to the car occupied by Werner and his friend.
After a few minutes of talking, one of the three men, later identified as Dolan, is seen punching Werner. The video led officers to the defendant and the others with him at the store that night.
The defendant told police that he and his friends were in a vehicle parked next to the victim’s car, documents said. At some point, Dolan said, Werner and his friend got angry with him.
“Dolan stated that he punched (Werner) once in the face,” according to a police affidavit, “and then punched the window when it got rolled up.”
He is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Thursday — Cortney S. McCamey, 22, of Brady Township was charged with drugged driving in connection with a traffic stop last month in Butler. Police said they stopped her sport utility vehicle about 1:40 a.m. Sept. 30 for an equipment violation.
The violation, court documents said, was because the tires extended outside the body of the SUV.
Police said after they stopped the vehicle on West Penn Street at Broad Street, they noticed that one of two passengers was not wearing a seat belt. The SUV’s inspection was also expired by more than two years.
Troopers suspected McCamey was impaired and she later failed field sobriety tests, documents said. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test following a drug recognition expert’s evaluation.
Toxicology reports subsequently showed he had marijuana and the prescription drug gabapentin in her system.
McCamey is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, having improper tires, driving a vehicle without valid inspection, careless driving and a seat belt violation.
