Martha Evalyn Heller Smitmans, 85, of Whetstone, Ariz., died Saturday.

Born Nov. 22, 1922, in Cabot, she was a daughter of Milton and Alice Heller.

She was a jewelry designer and specialized in making Venetian beads and scrimshaw and was active in the Huachuca Art Association.

Surviving are her sisters-in-law, Hilda Mellish and Grace Chaffin, both of Chicora, and Jean Swartzlander of Fenelton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hagen Smitmans, and a daughter, Stephanie Smitmans Nurss.

<B>SMITMANS</B> — No services were held for Martha Evalyn Heller Smitmans, who died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. Private burial was at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.
