A Cranberry Township man is accused of stealing four handguns and threatening to steal a crossbow from a Cranberry Township residence.

Jacob Edward Weber, 22, was charged Thursday, Sept. 3, by Cranberry Township police with a count of felony burglary; four felony counts each of theft, receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm while prohibited; eight felony counts of carrying a firearm without a license and misdemeanor loitering following an Aug. 4 incident.

Police said they were alerted to a burglary Aug. 4 at a residence on Amon Street. Security footage showed Weber in the area of the home, which had an open garage door, police said.

According to police, Weber left the area and returned about 40 minutes later and entered the garage. Police said he opened an unlocked safe and took four handguns before leaving the area.

Weber then went to a residence in Fairview Township where he shot the guns recreationally with four other people, where police said Weber left one of the guns.

When police asked Weber about the guns, Weber told them he could get the guns back in a day or two, police said. He then traveled around the Cranberry Township area and retrieved three of the guns before going to Fairview Township to retrieve the fourth.

A witness told police Weber also made remarks about returning to the Amon Street home to steal a crossbow.

Weber’s preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled.
