Gerald A. Oswald
Gerald A. Oswald, 92, of Butler and formerly of Ellwood City died Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.
He was born March 13, 1917, in McArthur, Ohio, the son of the late Eugene J. and Agatha Clouse Oswald.
Mr. Oswald was a retired journeyman machinist for the U.S. Steel Tube Mill in Ellwood City, where he worked for more than 40 years.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman and formerly was a member of the St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church in Ellwood City.
Gerald was a hunter and fisherman and was a life member of the NRA. He also greatly enjoyed woodworking.
His wife, Edith Lucas Oswald, whom he married April 14, 1941, survives. Also surviving are his son, George J. Oswald and his wife, Mary Louise Oswald, of Allison Park; a sister, Pauline Oswald of New Castle; two grandsons and their wives, Gerald J. and Stephanie Oswald of Saxonburg and John J. and Lynn Oswald of Butler; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Bernard (Debbie) Bower of Richland Township. Seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
<B>OSWALD </B> Friends of Gerald A. Oswald, who died Thursday, April 2, 2009, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham S. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Herman.
