Karl G. Hoak Jr., 79, of Adams Township, formerly of McCandless Township, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 16, 2026.

Karl was born on March 27, 1947, in Millvale, Pa., to Karl and Dorothy Hoak, who preceded him in death.

Karl is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Penny L. Gray Hoak; his daughter, Kimberly Hollern (Phil); his two granddaughters, Karlie McGinnis (Connor) and Taylor Hollern; his siblings, Kathy Knochel (Marty) and James Hoak (Heather); and his nieces and nephews.

A graduate of LaRoche University, Karl retired after 45 years with Valspar as director of purchasing. He loved golf and was a member of Diamond Run Golf Club for 27 years. Karl and Penny regularly attended North Way Christian Community for church.

HOAK — Friends of Karl G. Hoak Jr., who died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
