3:25 p.m. Wednesday - A sport utility vehicle driven by Joseph Gallagher, 23, of Oakland Township struck a utility pole along North Main Street.Police said the SUV was pulling a 25-foot trailer with a stump grinder on top of it. The grinder, following the collision, was knocked into the rear of the vehicle. Gallagher was cited for hauling an unsecured load.
Sunday - Richard Kubik, 53, and Renata Kubik, 52, both of New Castle, were arrested for allegedly shoplifting merchandise at the Butler Commons' Wal-Mart store. The defendants, charged with retail theft, are in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bond each.
2:30 p.m. July 6 - A cargo truck driven by Chad Deems, 29, of Washington, Washington County, and a vehicle driven by Marilyn Shaffer, 57, of Pittsburgh collided on West New Castle Street.
4:40 p.m. Monday - David Andrew Morrow, 22, of Butler was arrested allegedly being found with two stamp bags of suspected heroin and a syringe at the intersection of Sunset Drive and Mercer Road in Center Township. Morrow is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.2:40 a.m. Sunday - Blake Armstrong, 19, of Parker was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 in Fairview Township.
4 a.m. Sunday - Joshua Douglass, 20, of East Brady was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup truck struck and sheared off a utility pole at Routes 4002 and 68 in Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County.4:15 p.m. Thursday - A pair of Apollo area teens were cited for illegally hanging out of a vehicle in which they were riding on Route 28 in Buffalo Township, Butler County.Passing motorists saw the teens and called police. But Brian McKean, 18, and William Hollis, 19, told police that they were hanging out of windows in the moving vehicle to check on a possible flat tire.The two men as well as the driver, Michael Petrilla Jr., 21, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, were cited for unauthorized persons and devices hanging on vehicles.
