Charles J. 'Chuck' Yetter
Charles J. “Chuck” Yetter, 58, of Butler passed away Friday.
Born on Dec. 17, 1956, in Philadelphia, he was the son of Mary N. Thomas Yetter and the late Charles E. Yetter.
Chuck graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 1975 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served with them for the next 10 years.
Chuck secured a degree from Slippery Rock University in 1989. He began his working career at ServiStar and proceeded to positions at Kennametal, Fore Systems, Marconi, and Ericsson. He then began active duty with the U.S. Army Reserves and served a year in Kuwait and its surrounding countries.
Upon his return to the states, Chuck furthered his education by earning a master's degree in network services from Capital Technology University in 2007 and began working with Farfield Systems in Maryland. He then worked as a technical support manager at ECI Telecom, senior network manager for Computer Science Corp. (CSC) and as a subcontractor for Westinghouse. Chuck was currently employed with Cisco Systems in Cranberry Township as a senior software QA engineer.
Chuck ended his military career on March 10, 2014, when he retired from the Army Reserve North Central Operations Command after 21 years of combined military service.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Butler, where he volunteered his time to help resolve computer problems on an as-needed basis.
Chuck was an avid sports enthusiast and coached youth basketball and softball. He loved fishing and deer, pheasant and turkey hunting. He also loved to ride his Harley, shoot hoops and have a beer with the guys. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Linda Mayhew Yetter, whom he married on Dec. 26, 1992; his four children, Bree Morse (Jason) Lawrence of Dawsonville, Ga., Dylan Morse of Pittsburgh, Amanda Marie Yetter of Cary, N.C., and Kristen Anne Yetter (Evan) Kochelek of Austin, Texas; his three grandchildren, Joel, Grant and Ivy Lawrence; his sister, Cathy Yetter of Wenonah, N.J.; his brother, Michael Yetter of Reno, Nev.; his aunt, Julie Thomas, and cousin, Nicole (Thomas) Robinson, both of Wenonah, N.J., and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Yetter.
Yetter — A memorial service with military honors for Charles J. “Chuck” Yetter, who passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, with the pastors Eric Park and Tim Goodman officiating. Chuck will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.In lieu of flowers, the Yetter family requests memorial donations be made in Chuck's name to The Wounded Warrior Project, a cause that Chuck felt passionately about.
