3 p.m. Friday — A student at the Butler Intermediate High School was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment after a fight with another student. Police did not identify either student.3 p.m. Thursday — A 13-year-old girl, previously suspended from the Butler Intermediate High School, was cited for defiant trespass after she returned twice to the school while serving her suspension.
5:54 a.m. Tuesday — Police responded to a burglary at Galbreath's Laundromat on North Rebecca Street, finding signs of forced entry and a change machine containing an undetermined amount of cash removed from the wall. Anyone with information about the incident or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to call police at 724-352-6255.
4:25 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when a cargo van driven by Lawrence P. Ackerman, 56, of Lambertville, Mich., and a car driven by Robert D. Freehling, 34, of Evans City, collided at Route 422 and Sechan Drive in Muddy Creek Township.Freehling and his passenger, Clayton L. Morgan, 15, of Evans City, suffered minor injuries. Police said Ackerman was cited for careless driving.6:02 p.m. Monday — David E. Claypoole, 22, of Washington Township was arrested after he allegedly tried to run over one person and threatened to burn down the home of another during a domestic dispute at a home in Summit Township.Claypoole is accused of driving to the home on Ringneck Lane and confronting 26-year-old Edith Myers. He told her he was “going to shoot her whole family and burn down their residences,” according to police affidavit.Court documents did not identify the relationship between Claypoole and Myers.Myers' brother, Ralph Myers, was at the house and intervened on his sister's behalf, asking the defendant to leave. Claypoole, in turn, backed up his vehicle toward Ralph Myers.“(Ralph) Myers related that he had to jump out of the way and fell to the ground attempting to avoid being struck,” the affidavit said. No injuries were reported.Claypoole drove away. A short time later, however, police arrested him at a home in Fairview Township.The suspect was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and two counts of simple assault. Police also cited him for careless driving and reckless driving.He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $35,000 bail, following arraignment.Monday — Two teenagers face criminal charges for allegedly driving pickup trucks through the yard at the Chicora Elementary School in Chicora. The vandalism caused an estimated $835 in damages. Charged with criminal mischief, according to a police report, are Austin T. Bowser, 19, of Bruin and Jacob T. Freiters, 19, of Petrolia. Additionally, Bowser is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Monday — The Toby Township municipal building, for the second time in a week, was burglarized. Unspecified tools were stolen in the latest break-in that happened between 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Monday.In the earlier burglary, Feb. 5 or 6, a chain saw was taken.
7:40 p.m. Monday — Dennis W. Cuffia, 60, of Leechburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup truck struck and sheared off a utility pole and hit a tree along Route 66 in Bethel Township. Cuffia, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.
