A Butler man was sentenced Thursday, Aug. 6, in Butler County Common Pleas Court to serve five years of probation after pleading guilty to possession of crack cocaine and having a gun without a license.

Noah Storm Burnside, 29, pleaded guilty to felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, firearms not to be carried without a license and aggravated assault.

In a plea agreement, he was sentenced to concurrently serve nine to 23-and-a-half months in prison for each count, but was immediately paroled to serve the minimum sentence on electronic monitoring, and concurrently serve 60 months of probation for the possession charge and 36 months of probation for the firearm and assault charges. He was fined a total of $3,000.

Butler Township police filed the charges following an incident at 2:30 a.m. March 2, 2025, when officers questioned him at a gas station where he was seen wearing an all-black outfit, a ski mask, a hood over his head and a black Nike backpack. Police said they had encountered Burnside there before.

Burnside identified himself as his brother, who did not have an active warrant like Burnside did, police said. He placed into custody after refusing to pull down his ski mask for officers to identify him, according to an affidavit.

Police said Burnside had multiple bags of crack cocaine, a silver pistol with .32-caliber ammunition, five glass crack pipes, one meth pipe, two metal spoons with white power residue, a gold measuring cup with white powder residue and other drug paraphernalia.
