12:43 a.m. Saturday — Richard A. Swann, 28, of Butler was found with a suspected heroin shooting kit after he was arrested on a bench warrant on College Street near Linden Avenue.

Police said when they searched Swann they turned up two stamp bags of suspected heroin, eight syringes, a spoon and a small bottle of rubbing alcohol.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrant.

Tuesday — Lisa K. Bishop, 50, of Butler was charged with felony retail theft stemming from a shoplifting incident in August at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Bishop on Aug. 8 failed to scan 32 grocery items in a grocery cart that she tried to take out of the store, according to a police report.

Court records showed that she has at least two prior shoplifting convictions.

Tuesday — Police cited two out-of-state men in connection with a suspected drunken altercation in the first-floor hallway at the Days Inn on Route 8 south. Charged with public drunkenness are Andrew L. Reno, 31, of Vanderbilt, Mich., and Donnie J. Watwood, of Mesa, Ariz.

7:21 p.m. Monday — Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle accident at Route 8 and McCalmont Road. The wreck happened when Trevor Gilliland, 18, of Butler pulled his vehicle into the path of a vehicle driven by Samantha Reott, 28, of Butler.

Reott was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries and released. Gilliland was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

12:03 a.m. Sept. 27 — Two Lyndora women landed in trouble with the law following a fight at a home on Randolph Street. Police cited both Jessica Claypool, 23, and Darlene M. White, 57, with disorderly conduct and harassment.

11:27 a.m. Sept. 26 — Codi E. Milligan, 38, of Butler was caught with a crack pipe and other paraphernalia at Park Manor Apartments. Police said they found her after getting a call for suspicious activity outside the apartment complex.

A search of Milligan’s purse, according to court documents, turned up the drug-smoking pipe as well as two uncapped syringes, an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin, a metal spoon and related contraband.

She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

Monday — A Harrisville teenager was charged with having suspected marijuana and other contraband stemming from a traffic stop about 9:05 p.m. Sept. 24 at Madison Avenue and East Main Street.

The suspect, 19-year-old Jordyn Nicholas Sutton, is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

[naviga:h3]Saxonburg Police[/naviga:h3]

Sept. 27 — A Penn Township couple was charged with illegally using a woman’s bank card that was obtained from First Commonwealth Bank on West Main Street in Saxonburg.

Surveillance cameras caught the suspects — Nicole M. Lavery, 34, and Chad T. Lavery, 35 — withdrawing the money last year from the First Commonwealth Bank at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza in Butler Township.

On five occasions between July 27 and Aug. 9, 2016, Nicole Lavery withdrew a combined $140 without the card owner’s permission, according to court documents. On Aug. 11, 2016, Chad Lavery withdrew $10.

Nicole Lavery is charged with multiple counts of access device fraud, theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. Chad Lavery is charged with one count each of access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property, and multiple counts of conspiracy.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock Police[/naviga:h3]

Sept. 27 — Kyle J. Wise, 21, of Saegertown, Crawford County, was charged with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol following an August traffic stop. Police said they stopped him about 2:25 a.m. Aug. 23 for going the wrong way on Maltby Avenue.

Wise later was arrested after he failed field sobriety testing and he registered a positive for alcohol on a portable breath test device, according to court documents.

He was taken to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.191 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence, Wise is charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Sept. 20 — Michael R. Herndon, 32, of Grove City was arraigned on felony and other charges stemming from a drugged driving arrest in June.

Police said they found Herndon about 3:30 a.m. June 25 apparently passed out in a car that was running while at a gas pump at the Sheetz store on Franklin Street.

He subsequently failed field sobriety tests and a drug recognition expert’s evaluation, according to court documents. He also admitted he had used marijuana earlier that day.

A search of his car, documents said, turned up two bags containing about 28 grams of suspected marijuana as well as $250 in currency. Police also seized a carved wooden shovel handle that the defendant admitted was intended for fighting and other violent purpose “if he needed it.”

Herndon was taken to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test, which showed he had marijuana, alprazolam and oxymorphone in his system.

Police eventually got a search warrant for Herndon’s cell phone, which showed 20 text messages of the defendant “making deals to buy and sell marijuana to other people,” documents said.

He was arraigned on felony and misdemeanor counts of drug possession, and charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a prohibited offensive weapon. He is free on $5,000 bail.

[naviga:h3]BC3 Police[/naviga:h3]

Friday — Two men were charged in connection with a vehicular altercation Sept. 25 that began in the area of Vogel Road in Butler Township and ended on the Butler County Community College campus.

Police said Zachary H. Colton, 20, of Portersville and Christopher L. Coleman, 46, of Slippery Rock got into a disagreement while driving their vehicles about 9 a.m. They eventually confronted one another after getting out of their vehicles at a stop sign near the college’s field house.

The two men spat at each other, according to court documents, before Colton walked back to his Jeep, grabbed a flashlight and allegedly struck Coleman in the left hip with it, causing an unspecified injury. The men exchanged punches before they drove away, documents said.

Colton is charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. Police cited Coleman for disorderly conduct.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

Monday — Police charged William S. Brookbank, 49, of Eau Claire with threatening the life of a woman at an Eau Claire home last week.

Brookbank made the alleged threat Sept. 27, according to court documents, when police arrested him on charges he sexually assaulted the woman’s 5-year-old daughter.

Police said as they were taking the defendant to the barracks in connection with the indecent assault case, he stated he would “shoot and kill” the woman after he got out of prison.

He is charged with terroristic threats in the latest case.

Brookbank has been in Butler County Prison since his previous arrest on felony charges of child endangerment and corruption of minors, and misdemeanor charges of indecent assault and indecent exposure.

He is being held without bail on those charges and because of the threat to the child’s mother.

Monday — Police filed felony and misdemeanor charges against Jerome E. Batcher, 24, of Jefferson Township for allegedly driving a pickup truck through a corn field and into a livestock fence on a farm in Jefferson Township in August.

Batcher is accused of causing about $1,000 in damage to the Frazier Road property owned by Albert Foertsch, according to court documents. Police said the incident happened Aug. 5 or 6.

Tire tracks and broken vehicle parts helped lead police to Batcher and his truck.

He is charged with agricultural crop destruction, a felony, and agricultural vandalism and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.

Monday — Jeffrey D. Hay Jr., 35, of Prospect was charged with driving a GMC pickup truck with an altered or destroyed vehicle identification number in connection with an incident earlier this year on Mahood Road in Clay Township

Police said Hay around Memorial Day in May 29 got his truck stuck in deep mud off the side of Mahood Road. He left the truck there and later attempted it get it out using another truck, according to court documents.

While there, police said, he left several bags of garbage on the property. He eventually abandoned the GMC truck on the property. Police later determined the truck’s VIN plate had been removed from the dash.

In addition to removing the VIN, which is a felony, Hay is charged with criminal trespass, scattering rubbish, abandoning a vehicle on private property and trespass by vehicle.

Monday — Nicole R. Baumbach, 33, of Cranberry Township was charged with driving under the influence of drugs in connection with a traffic stop last year in Butler. Police said they stopped her for going the wrong way on Cunningham Street about 3:30 p.m. March 7, 2016.

Baumbach was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test following a drug recognition expert’s evaluation. Toxicology results subsequently showed she had several prescription medications in her system.

In addition to DUI, she is charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and careless driving.

Documents did not indicate why it took so long for police to file charges.

Monday — A student was charged with having a synthetic marijuana cigarette at the Summit Academy reform school in Summit Township. The suspect, Heriberto Monterrey, 18, of Philadelphia, is charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

Friday — Ann C. Riley, 50, of Pittsburgh was charged with being more than double the legal limit for alcohol about 4:20 p.m. Sept. 21 when police found her slumped over the wheel of a minivan on Fairfield Lane.

Riley failed field sobriety testing and was taken for a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.189 percent. She was charged with DUI.

Sept. 27 — Police charged an Allegheny County teenager with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop earlier this month in Slippery Rock Township. Terel D. Lewis, 18, of Monroeville was stopped about 12:05 a.m. Sept. 17 after his vehicle passed a trooper’s patrol car on Harmony Road with its high beams on.

According to court documents, the officer said that as soon as he got out of his car he smelled marijuana, which was coming from Lewis’ vehicle.

The defendant was subsequently arrested after failing a field sobriety test. He was searched, documents said, and found with about 10 grams of marijuana.

Toxicology results of a blood test at Butler Memorial Hospital confirmed he had marijuana in his system.

Lewis is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving without a license, careless driving and failing to use low beams.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

Sept. 28 — A 25-year-old man reported that someone stole $600 that was in his car, which was broken into while parked at his home on Barkeyville Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. The theft happened between 12:01 and 5 a.m.

Police said they have no suspects.
