Monday — Joshua D. Norris, 32, of Butler was charged with running from police who were looking for him in connection with an incident last month on West Cunningham Street.

Officers were called about 3:20 p.m. Aug. 29 for a report of an unknown man with a pistol near the Shell gas station. Police spotted the defendant, who matched the description of the man.

But when Norris saw police, according to court documents, he ran through several backyards in the area of Mercer and Pine streets.

Officers eventually caught him in a side yard on Wood Street.

Police searched Norris and the chase route but found no gun. He is charged with disorderly conduct.

11:27 p.m. Sunday — Eric D. Shever, 33, of Summit Township was caught with suspected heroin and drug contraband after he was arrested on a bench warrant at an apartment on West Jefferson Street.

A search of Shever turned up two stamp bags of suspected heroin and a syringe. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

7:08 p.m. Sunday — Caressa L. Cribbs, 25, allegedly left her 2-year-old child unsupervised at her apartment on Wick Street.

The child's father notified police after he believed his daughter was home alone.

Officers went to the apartment and found both the front and back doors ajar. There was no answer at the doors, court documents said, but police could hear a child crying inside.

The child was found unharmed behind a baby gate in her bedroom. The child's father later arrived. Sometime after that, Cribbs showed up. She was subsequently taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

The Butler County Children & Youth Services agency was also notified.

Cribbs is charged with child endangerment.

3:58 p.m. Sunday — An Indiana County woman was arrested on a bench warrant following a traffic stop on Pillow Street.

Jennifer Ann Young, 36, was wanted on a warrant out of Venango County for failing to make court payments, authorities said. Police searched her and a bag in the back seat of her car and found a box containing crack pipes and syringes, court documents said.

Police charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia. She remains in the Butler County Prison on the warrant.

3:01 p.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Joseph P. Beitch, 67, of Lyndora struck the side of another vehicle at East Boundary Street and Kohler Avenue. The other vehicle, driven by Regina Fleeger of Butler, rolled over after the collision.

No injuries were reported. Police cited Beitch for running a stop sign, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

12:48 p.m. Monday — Police reported no one injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck on North Duffy Road near the Holiday Inn entrance.

The crash happened when a car driven by Stanley E. Fair, 42, of Butler rear-ended a vehicle driven by Marguerite Aebi, 60, of Mars. Aebi's vehicle in turn was pushed into the back of a vehicle driven by Gayle Bouder, 62, of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County.

Police cited Fair for driving with a suspended license, driving without a license and driving at an unsafe speed.

Monday — Police charged Dakota J. Hinchberger, 25, of Portersville with having drugs and related contraband Sept. 11 at Alameda Park. The evidence seized included seven stamp bags of suspected heroin, prescription pills and syringes.

Hinchberger is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Monday — Anthony M. Kovocovsky, 53, of Butler was charged with taking a camera at the Aldi store at Butler Commons on July 23 and returning it there for a $63.59 fraudulent refund. He is charged with theft by deception.

5:31 a.m. Sept. 9 — A car driven by Kristen M. Walchesky, 37, of Butler struck another vehicle on Route 356. Amy Grossman, 48, of Boyers was the other driver.

No one was hurt, but Walchesky's car had to be towed. Police cited Walchesky for following too closely to another vehicle.

12:35 a.m. Sunday — Robert Kiester, 53, of Harrisville was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was stopped at a DUI checkpoint on the 900 block of South Center Street.

[naviga:h3]Middlesex Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

Monday — UPDATE: The charges listed against Melissa Rosetti in this article were dismissed and expunged at the Butler County Common Pleas Court on Aug. 1, 2020.

Melissa Rossetti, 50, of Cranberry Township was charged with bouncing a $2,127 check last month for water line work.

Rossetti passed the check on Aug. 10 to Kennihan Plumbing & Heating. Police said the check was written on an account with insufficient funds. The company on Sept. 7 sent the defendant a certified letter requesting payment.

According to court documents, Rossetti accepted the letter, but as of Monday had not paid her bill. She is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of bad checks.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock Police[/naviga:h3]

Tuesday — A Washington County man was charged with driving with more than double the state's legal limit for alcohol and on marijuana following a Sept. 2 traffic stop on North Main Street.

The suspect, Michael P. Kalosky, 20, of Washington, was pulled over about 4:15 a.m. for weaving between the northbound and southbound lanes, according to court documents. Police said they smelled marijuana and alcohol coming from the car.

Kalosky failed field sobriety testing and was positive for alcohol on a portable breath test device. He was taken to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test.

Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.175 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated. He also had marijuana in his system.

Kalosky's passenger, Brayden R. Cimino, 19, of Washington, also appeared to be impaired. He admitted he had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, documents said.

A search of the car turned up a glass jar containing suspected marijuana as well as two marijuana grinders and two scales.

Kalosky is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, DUI by a minor, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, minors prohibited from driving with alcohol in their system, disregarding traffic lanes and disorderly conduct.

Cimino is charged with underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

Monday — Michael D. Wislie, 35, of Freeport was charged with having drugs and related paraphernalia in connection with a Sept. 13 hit-and-run crash in Clinton Township.

Police allege Wislie shortly before 10:10 p.m. Sept. 19 fled after his car hit a guardrail on Victory Road near Spring Valley Road. While looking in the vehicle for insurance information, police noticed what they believed were drugs and other contraband, court documents said.

Troopers about 2 a.m. Sept. 14 spoke to the defendant. He admitted losing control of the car while on his way to his girlfriend's house. He also told police that because he wasn't injured, he did not think he had to call 911, documents said.

Wislie is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, hit-and-run, failing to notify police immediately after an accident, driving a vehicle without valid inspection, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

5:45 p.m. Saturday — An Allegheny County man was caught with suspected marijuana after he was stopped for speeding on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said they clocked Reno A. Baum Jr., 24, of South Park traveling 91 mph in a 70 mph zone.

A trooper smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from Baum's sport utility vehicle. He admitted that he had “two bowls” in the center console, according to court documents. He also turned over a baggie containing suspected marijuana that was in his pocket.

Baum is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
