Alexander L. Walmsley
Alexander L. Walmsley, 73, of Arnold passed away peacefully Wednesday.
Born on Oct. 22, 1941, in Cheswick to the late Alexander and Ruth George Walmsley, he was a graduate of Springdale High School and a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, Parris Island, Camp Pendleton, Japan, Okinawa, and Taiwan. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Pistol Expert Badge.
He was also a member of the American Legion in New Kensington, and at one time, the Seventh Street Sportsman's Club. He also belonged to the Arnold 2 Fireman's Club.
He was an expert cabinet maker, and for most of his working career, he worked for several cabinet shops, including Michaelangelo Kitchen Works in New Kensington.
He enjoyed playing darts, hunting, fishing, bowling, and woodworking, and was especially proud of his gardens.
Surviving are his daughter, Lorraine Lynn Radaker of New Kensington; his siblings, Elizabeth Teichman of New Kensington, Clarence “Butch” Walmsley of Cabot, Robert Walmsley of Chester, Va., Ann Marie (Dallas) Whipp of Chester, Va., and Henrietta Penchick of New Kensington; his nieces, Kim Swanger and Cathy Cochran, and his nephews, Thomas Teichman Jr. and David Teichman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Walmsley.
Walmsley— Viewing for Alexander L. Walmsley, who passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME (successor to the John F. Krupa Funeral Home), 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where military honors will be accorded Monday afternoon by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
