Adams

Clifford Lee "Jack" Adams, 87, of Kellys Way in East Brady, formerly of Fairview and Parker Township, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at ACMH Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Fairview, Oct. 5, 1920, he was a son of Ralph and Millie Fink Adams.

He was a Methodist.

Mr. Adams graduated from Karns City High School in 1938 and served from 1942 until 1945 with the Army Infantry in Normandy and Germany during World War II. He was wounded in action twice and received the Purple Heart, the Oak Leaf Cluster and the Silver Star. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 218 of Fairview.

He worked at the Koppers Chemical Co., Petrolia, from 1945 until he retired in 1981.

He married the former Jean M. Mackey on Oct. 16, 1943, in Manchester, Tenn. She survives along with a son, Frank Adams and his wife, Diane, of Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County; a daughter, Barbara A. Anthony of Kepples Corners; five grandchildren, Clifford and Jerry Anthony, both of Chicora, Michelle Jones and her husband, Scott, of Baden, Stephanie Gabborin and her husband, Shawn, of Vandergrift and Tammy Blair of Salisbury, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Christie and her husband, Frank, of Warren, Pa.; and a son-in-law, Donald McCarl and his wife, Lisa, of Butler.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Dorothy McCarl on July 6, 1990; a brother, Ralph "Mose" Adams; a son-in-law, Jerry Anthony on Aug. 3, 2000; a grandson, Jerry Blair in 1999, and two sisters, Florence Barone and Geraldine Dorr.

<B>ADAMS </B>— Friends of Clifford Lee "Jack" Adams, who died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Richard d. Hillis funeral home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.
