Young

Emery Roy Young, 74, of Fairmont Road, Chicora, died of natural causes at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Born in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, Nov. 30, 1933, he was a son of Frank and Dora Patch Young.

He was a Methodist.

Mr. Young enjoyed visiting the family's Marienville camp.A number of years ago, he enjoyed riding his 1970 Harley Davidson Electraride Motorcycle.

A lifelong truck driver, he hauled freight to Fort Worth, Texas, for Redline Motor Freight and container loads to Dundalk, near Baltimore, Md., for Warfal Trucking. He retired in 1994 for health reasons.

He married the former Shirley E. Hughes, Dec. 10, 1951, in Petrolia. She survives along with two daughters, Donna J. Hobaugh and her husband, George, of Chicora and Mary Lou Sheakley and her husband, Gregory, of Karns City; a son, Ronald Emery Young and his wife, Laurie, of Chicora; five grandchildren, Holly Jones and her husband, Todd, of Chicora, Hilary Williams and her husband, Kris, of Karns City and Jessica Hobaugh, Jason Young and George Hobaugh, all of Chicora; five great-grandchildren, Maren and Dalton Jones and twins, Austin and Amber Young, all of Chicora, and Koen Williams of Karns City; a brother, Clyde Young and his wife, Elsie, of Wellsville, N.Y.; a stepbrother, Wallace McElroy of Karns City; a sister, Marie Smith and her husband, Harry, of Cowansville; a stepsister, Stella Smith and her husband, Sam, of Emlenton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lee, Ted, William and Henry McElroy, and four sisters, Eleanor Thompson, Nell Dunhoff, Ethel Wolfe and Edith Crouch.

<B>YOUNG</B> — Friends of Emery Roy Young, who died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Richard d Hillis funeral home</B>, Petrolia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes, pastor of the Parker and the Perry United Methodist churches, officiating. Burial will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
