CRANBERRY TWP — Traffic on Interstate 79 north was at a standstill Friday afternoon after a wooden pallet in the road damaged at number of vehicles.

Multiple units responded to the incident just after 2 p.m. in which at least five vehicles were damaged while traveling north on I-79 past the Cranberry exit. Traffic was halted for several minutes as law enforcement directed the damaged vehicles to the side of the road.

From Rowan Road, crews could be seen evaluating the damage while opening the left lane to traffic. No injuries were reported, and officials said they are still investigating the origins of the pallet.

Earlier Friday, crews responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Powell and Freedom roads in the township at about 12:40 p.m. Neither vehicle was heavily damaged, and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

A third accident was reported just after 1 p.m. Friday on Evans City Road outside of Zelienople in Jackson Township. The scene at the two-vehicle accident was cleared within 15 minutes, and no injuries were reported.

Additional information on the incidents was not made available late Friday, as they remain under investigation.
