Butler Police10:13 a.m. Tuesday — John E. Goodman, 35, of Fenelton was arrested on charges he violated a protective order previously issued to his wife, 33-year-old Rachel Goodman of Butler. John Goodman is accused of sending threatening text messages to his wife. He was arraigned and placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.12:59 a.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Rodger N. Finney, 52, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Peter D. Gall, 25, both of Butler, collided at West Cunningham and South Chestnut streets.Tuesday — Police accused a Butler couple of shoplifting more than $1,000 in merchandise from the Kmart store in Pullman Square last month.The suspects, Colleen R. Cunningham, 32, and her boyfriend, Lamont E. Adair, 24, face retail theft charges.An anonymous tip Monday led officers to the alleged shoplifters’ Fifth Avenue apartment. Police until then had not identified the suspects since they were last seen about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 21 walking away from the Kmart pushing a shopping cart crammed with items.Questioned about the theft, according to a police report, Cunningham admitted that she had swiped merchandise there on two separate occasions. She said Adair was waiting for her outside the store and they both walked to their home nearby with the stolen property.She recounted for officers, the report said, what she took: a television, home theater system, jewelry, wooden entertainment center, Apple iPod docking station, numerous DVDs, several purses, a crock pot, clothes and a microwave oven.In all, the take totaled $1,514, police said.Officers seized from the suspect’s home all the stolen property except the microwave. Cunningham allegedly said she threw the oven away because it didn’t work.Cunningham faces a felony count of shoplifting because she has two prior convictions for retail theft, police said.Tuesday — A Kittanning woman told police that someone stole her purse from her unlocked car between 9:56 and 10:15 a.m. at the Kids Count on West Jefferson Street. The purse contained a wallet with about $50 in currency and bank cards, and a Samsung digital tablet.Tuesday — Police filed a bad check charge against Nancy M. Guidotti, 54, of Rimersburg, Clarion County, for allegedly bouncing a check for $135 on March 27 at the Outdoor Army & Navy Store on North Main Street. The check, according to a police report, was written on a bank account with insufficient funds.

Butler Twp. PoliceTuesday — Police charged James A. Cogley, 34, of Butler with retail theft after he allegedly shoplifted merchandise worth $200 from the Sheetz store on New Castle Road about 6:45 p.m. Sept. 12.

State Police, Kittanning7:32 a.m. Tuesday — Jennifer R. White, 24, of Manorville was hurt when the car she was driving crashed into a concrete barrier on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township. White, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. Police said she was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

State Police, New CastleMonday — A thief apparently had no reservations about taking a 4-foot-tall Indian statue from the back porch of a home on Mount Herman Church Road at Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Police said a search of the area turned up the statue on a porch on nearby Princeton Station Road in the township.The theft, which happened between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., remains under investigation.
