Butler Police4:39 p.m. Monday — Nicholas A. Brittner, 28, of Butler was arrested on charges he punched his girlfriend, Ashlee Morrison, in her face and pulled her hair during a domestic dispute at an apartment on Greenview Drive.Police said Morrison suffered a red and swollen left cheek. Officers said when they searched Brittner they found him with a marijuana pipe.He was arraigned on charges of simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.3:58 p.m. Monday — Phillip C. Phillips, 28, was arrested after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend, Colleen Wells, during a domestic dispute at their home on Shore Street.Brittner is accused of grabbing Wells by the legs and dragging her across the floor. He also threw his cell phone, which hit and broke a glass picture frame.Wells’ ex-husband, Craig Wells, was there and he tried to intervene, according to court documents. But when Phillips charged him, Craig Wells fell over onto the broken glass from the damaged frame.The defendant later allegedly placed his hands around his girlfriend’s throat and strangled her. He was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.11:23 p.m. Sunday — Catherine A. Williams, 30, was arrested after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend, 35-year-old Robert E. Fair, during a fight at their home in the 300 block of North McKean Street.Police said they were called there for a fight, possibly involving a knife. They found Fair with a cut to his nose and a blood-covered face, according to a police report.Williams was locked in a bedroom, still on the phone talking to a dispatcher at the county’s 911 center.Police suspect Fair got on top of him and repeatedly punched him in the face, the report said. Fair fought back, and allegedly caused a bruise on Williams’ right side near her stomach. She also complained of head pain.While officers were talking to Williams outside, police said, she began yelling at Fair and her older sister, which also lives at the home.Williams and Fair both refused medical treatment. Williams, who was taken to the police station and held until sober, is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Fair is charged with disorderly conduct.1:58 p.m. Thursday — Matthew M. Hensel, 26, of Butler was arrested after he was found staggering, apparently impaired by drugs, on the East Walnut Street viaduct sidewalk. Police said they stopped him after he walked into the bridge wall.An officer searched Hensel, which turned up three stamp bags and five empty bags of suspected heroin and a syringe.Hensel is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.Aug. 1 — An unidentified vehicle hit a 24-year-old man’s pickup truck parked in front of his home in the 800 block of Belmont Road. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.The other vehicle hit the rear of the pickup, pushing its back bumper into the passenger side quarter panel, causing the panel to buckle.2:06 p.m. July 27 — Mary M. Ashbaugh, 50, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant at an apartment in the 800 block of Center Avenue. Police found the suspect after her sister notified authorities that she was at the home.The warrant for Ashbaugh was issued May 24 by Armstrong County Court after she failed to appear for a court hearing in connection with a driving under the influence case.
State Police, ButlerMAug. 2 — Jordan R. Zulick, 20, was arraigned on charges he stole his father’s 40-inch smart TV on Dec. 2 from the family’s home on Douglas Street in Prospect.Zulick in an interview with police July 22, admitted that he took the television, valued at $317, and pawned the TV for about 10 stamp bags of heroin, according to court documents.He is charged with theft and receiving stolen property. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail in the case following arraignment.Aug. 2 — Police charged Ronald C. Schaub, 20, of Franklin Township with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop July 30 on Route 488 in Franklin Township.Police said the stop was initiated after Schaub’s pickup truck passed a trooper’s patrol car with its high beams on. When the officer checked in his side mirror, he noticed the pickup had no working rear lights.The trooper turned around and noticed the truck turn into a driveway across from Unionville Road. The suspect then turned off his head lights in what police believe was a failed attempt to avoid being spotted.Schaub, who reeked of alcohol when police talked to him, was taken to the barracks for a breath test. The test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.064 percent, documents said. In Pennsylvania, the legal limit for someone under 21 is 0.02 percent.In addition to driving under the influence, Schaub is charged with several traffic violations including driving without lights to avoid identification or arrest and driving a vehicle without inspection.
State Police, Kittanning9:56 a.m. Monday — A Westmoreland County man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 north in North Buffalo Township. Police did not identify the 36-year-old suspect, of Irwin, who was found with unspecified drugs and other contraband.DUI and drug-related charges are pending lab results.
State Police, New Castle5 a.m. Saturday — Brick A. Turnbull, 20, of Parker was hurt in a suspected drunken driving crash in Perry Township, Lawrence County. Police said he lost control of his car on Route 488 at Studebaker Road, hitting a stop sign and several trees.Turnbull, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Police said he faces pending charges of driving under the influence and several traffic violations.
State Police, PunxsutawneyFriday — A Crawford County man was caught supplying alcohol to a 20-year-old woman at Lernerville Speedway in Buffalo Township.Austin Cairns, 22, of Titusville faces a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor. The woman, Lydia Kellogg, also of Titusville, faces a charge of underage drinking.The case was the result of a patrol operation by Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement officers.
