11:02 p.m. Friday — Brad S. Cookson Jr., 39, of Butler was arrested after he was caught allegedly trying to break into Cammisa's Auto Body on East Jefferson Street.Police said a patrol officer spotted a man in a doorway at the business. The man appeared to be trying to break in, according to a court documents.The officer confronted Cookson, who claimed he was urinating and not trying to burglarize the business, police said. But a closer inspection turned up fresh hand prints on the door and dirt smears on the window just to the left of the door.Police searched Cookson, documents said, and found him with two pairs of rubber gloves, a flashlight, screwdriver, two pairs of pliers, wrenches and a baggie of baby wipes.Cookson was arraigned on charges of attempted burglary, possessing instruments of crime and disorderly conduct, and he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.8:48 p.m. Friday — Todd J. Curtin, 37, of Adams Township was arrested after he allegedly skipped out on a $72.53 food and drink bill at the Huddle Lounge on West Cunningham Street. Curtin is charged with theft of services. He is in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail.Police noted in charging documents that Curtin in the past week and a half has been charged in two other theft of services cases.
Tuesday — Police charged James Walborn, 33, of Butler with felony retail theft after he was caught allegedly shoplifting a bottle of STP gasoline additive and a package of car fresheners at the Trader Horn store in the Greater Butler Mart. The stolen merchandise is valued at $7.The felony charge filed in the case, police noted, is because Walborn has two or more prior convictions for shoplifting.Tuesday — Police charged James W. Gray III, 30, of Butler with driving under the influence stemming from an Oct. 12 crash in the 100 block of Evans Road. Police said the wreck happened about 2:10 a.m. when Gray's vehicle struck a tree.In addition to driving under the influence, Gray also was cited for careless driving.2:30 a.m. Sunday — A man and two women were cited following a disturbance at closing time in the bar at the Days Inn on Route 8 south. One of the suspects, Noel L. Orsborn, 43, of Renfrew, had to be treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for facial cuts.Police cited Orsborn and Shelby Paula Lang, 31, of Lyndora for disorderly conduct. Additionally, Keara Jean Richey, 21, of Butler was cited for public drunkenness.1:31 a.m. Sunday — David Eberhart, 22, of Harmony was cited for three traffic violations after an accident on McCalmont Road at the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad crossing. Police ticketed Eberhart for driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and a lane violation.2:13 a.m. Saturday — An unidentified 2013 Subaru Legacy traveled through a yard and struck a basketball hoop on Vogel Road. The unknown driver did not stop after the accident. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.1 a.m. Saturday — Charles Blatt, 29, of Butler was arrested on theft-related and other charges after he caused a disturbance at the Belmont II in the Bon Aire plaza. Police said Blatt allegedly failed to pay for drinks and then smashed glasses on the floor when told to leave.Blatt is charged with theft of services, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.4:30 p.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Sharon Fredley, 58, of Butler and a 17-year-old girl, who police did not identify, collided at Brown and Morton avenues. Police said Fredley was cited for a stop sign violation.4:20 p.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by Nathan Ligus, 35, of Slippery Rock pulled in front of another vehicle and caused a collision at Decatur and Vogel roads. Police said Ligus fled the scene after the wreck and later contacted officers. Dorrie Pacoe, no age given, of Butler was the other driver.Ligus is charged with hit-and-run, failing to stop and provide information, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance.11 a.m. Friday — Emanuel Klimantis, 49, of Butler was caught with suspected marijuana and drug contraband after two state constables arrested him at his home on a warrant out of Allegheny County.Klimantis, who was arrested on the warrant, also is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.10:57 a.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Shane L. Burdette, 23, and Miriam Terwint, 53, both of Butler collided at Villa Drive and Whitestown Road. Police cited Burdette for a stop sign violation.3:44 p.m. Nov. 4 — A car driven by William Ruddock, 56, of Home, Indiana County, rear-ended another vehicle on Route 68 at Eberhart Road. Police cited Ruddock for a moving violation. Deborah McCormick, 61, of Renfrew was the other driver.1:30 p.m. Nov. 4 — Robert Matson, 59, of Butler was arrested for public drunkenness after police found him sleeping on a display rack outside Friedman's supermarket at the Greater Butler Mart.3 p.m. Oct. 27 — Richard Stepp Jr., 33, and Joseph Daye, 41, both of Butler were arrested in connection with a shoplifting incident at Kohl's in the Butler Crossing shopping plaza. Police said Stepp is accused of taking $620 in merchandise. He is charged with felony retail theft.Daye is charged with theft by deception and possession of drug paraphernalia.
10:40 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Heather L. Eichenauer, 22, of Cheswick, Allegheny County, rear-ended another car on Fisher Road just south of Hannahstown Road in Jefferson Township. Police cited Eichenauer for following too closely to another vehicle.The other driver, Katie S. Callender, 36, of Saxonburg, had slowed down to avoid a deer when the crash happened, according to a police report.6:37 p.m. Tuesday — John A. Walsh, 21, of Wexford was hurt when his car struck another car at South Main Street and Kiester Road. Walsh, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor leg injury.Police said Walsh was cited for an unspecified traffic violation. Eric R. McFeaters, 49, of Slippery Rock was the other driver.7:10 a.m. Tuesday — Janice P. Michael was injured when a sport utility vehicle struck her car at Dinnerbell Road and Charlemagne Drive in Jefferson Township. The car, after the collision, traveled off the road and over an embankment.Michael, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries. Police said the other driver, Madison E. Semler, 18, of Butler, was cited for a stop sign violation.Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating last month's theft of a utility trailer behind A&E Heating and Cooling on East Butler Road in Summit Township. The 4-foot-by-12-foot metal open trailer, which is black with a wood bed and drop-down rear ramp, was taken between Oct. 11 or 12.12:38 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Megan L. Simpson, 22, of Sligo, Clarion County, crashed into a tree along Route 268 just west of Surface Mine Road in Parker Township. Police said Simpson was cited for a lane violation.
5:57 a.m. Tuesday — Icy road conditions were blamed for a pair of crashes minutes apart and nearby on Route 28 about 1 mile north of exit 17 in Buffalo Township, Butler County.The first crash happened at 5:46 a.m. when James J. Minarcin, 56, of Ford City lost control of his vehicle and skidded into a guardrail. Eleven minutes later, and near the same spot, a car driven by Mary M. Stivason, 66, of Cowansville slid into a concrete barrier. Stivason suffered minor injuries.The Buffalo Township volunteer Fire Company and Freeport EMS assisted police at the crash sites.4:51 a.m. Tuesday — Frederick J. Tregaskes, 52, and Jonathon Tregaskes, 24, both of Templeton, were hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in North Buffalo Township. The crash happened when the elder Tregaskes lost control of his sport utility vehicle and it overturned in the grass median on Route 28 near the McHaddon Road overpass.Both occupants were wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries. They were treated at ACMH Hospital near Kittanning. Police said Frederick Tregaskes was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
