March 25 — Jessica L. Trinkley, 33, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanors of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from a retail theft incident March 15 at Walmart in Butler Township.Police said Trinkley was stopped by a store employee for attempting to leave without paying for about $100 worth of items. Police said they later found stamp bags of suspected heroin among Trinkley's possessions.March 25 — Heidi L. Steele, 58, of Gibsonia, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a March 7 incident.Police said they were responding to a report of a woman who had run across a highway to get to Sheetz in Butler Township. Police said they made contact with the woman — identified as Steele — who told them she had been drinking and had driven that night.Police said a field sobriety test indicated Steele was impaired, and a blood test later showed a blood alcohol content greater than 0.30%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 25 — James P. Connors, 41, of Butler, was charged with a second-offense DUI stemming from a Feb. 7 vehicle accident.Police said they arrived on the scene of the one-vehicle crash and identified Connors as the driver. According to police, Connors said he hit a patch of ice, which caused the crash. Police said he also admitted to drinking two to three beers before driving.Police said Connors was unable to perform field sobriety tests because of his injury, but his blood was tested after he was taken to a hospital for those injuries. Police said the tests showed his blood alcohol content at 0.149%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 25 — William D. Schiebel, 53, of Chicora, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a March 7 vehicle accident.Police said at the scene they found Schiebel had driven into a parked car that damaged a second parked car. Police said Schiebel claimed he was texting while driving, which caused the crash. Police said he also admitted to drinking three or four alcoholic drinks that night.According to police, a field sobriety test indicated Schiebel was impaired, and a later blood test placed his blood alcohol content at 0.139%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 25 — Daniel L. Fish, 53, of Butler, was charged with a felony count of making a false statement during an attempt to buy a gun, as well as a related misdemeanor.According to detectives, a background check denied Fish the purchase of a rifle Dec. 14 at the Walmart in Butler Township. Police said on the application Fish did not list a DUI conviction from 2006.

March 30 — Jeremy M. Agostino, 41, of Slippery Rock, was charged with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property.Police said they responded Aug. 25 to Lowe's in Cranberry Township after store surveillance video showed Agostino move a welder, valued at about $625, to the Lawn and Garden Center, where he concealed it near a fence and underneath bags of soil.Police said Agostino left the store, returned the next morning, grabbed the welder and walked around the store for two hours. Police said Agostino purchased smaller items during that time and left the store without paying for the welder.According to police, Agostino has been convicted of six retail thefts before the most-recent incident.March 26 — Mark W. Troutman, 51, of Kittanning, was charged with retail theft after a March 13 incident at the Walmart in Cranberry Township.Police said a store employee saw Troutman remove price tags from multiple clothing items and place them in a backpack before trying to leave the store. According to police, the alleged theft attempt included items with a total value of about $310.

March 29 — Bethany J. Slater, 42, of Chicora, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a March 26 traffic stop in Slippery Rock.Police said they stopped Slater because she nearly crashed her vehicle into their cruiser as well as crossing the lines on the road. Police said Slater admitted drinking one glass of wine before driving.Police said Slater appeared impaired during field sobriety testing, and a later breath test showed her blood alcohol content at 0.189%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.

March 30 — Kaleb M. Berendt, 25, of Slippery Rock, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a March 27 traffic stop in Slippery Rock.Police said they stopped Berendt for dark-tinted windows and expired registration, and Berendt appeared impaired based on field sobriety testing.Police said a breath test later showed Berendt's blood alcohol content at 0.154%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 29 — Tyler M. Wittman, 23, of Slippery Rock, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a March 27 traffic stop in Brady Township.Police said they stopped Wittman for crossing lines on the road. They said Wittman admitted to drinking before driving, and he appeared impaired during a field sobriety test.Police said a later breath test revealed Wittman's blood alcohol content to be 0.131%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 26 — Tyler R. Clyde, 30, of Evans City, was charged with a first-offense DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from a Feb. 27 traffic stop in Prospect.Police said they stopped Clyde for speeding and a broken brake light. Police said Clyde appeared impaired during a field sobriety test, and a later blood test revealed marijuana and methamphetamine in his system.Police said they also found marijuana paraphernalia in the center console during the stop.March 25 — Two people were charged for having drugs inside a vehicle during a May 29 traffic stop in Butler Township.Margo V. Barr, 45, of Butler, and Kevin W. Koontz, 49, of Butler, each were charged with misdemeanors of possession of a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.Koontz additionally was charged with a misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence.Police said they stopped the driver, Koontz, for failing to use a turn signal. Police said during the stop, they noticed drug paraphernalia sitting on the back seat of the vehicle, in which Barr was a passenger.Police said they later found a Ziploc bag containing crack cocaine on the front-passenger side floor beside Barr's purse.Police said they also noticed Koontz's right front pants pocket was inside out, and there were granules of the drugs sprinkled on the driver seat and floor.
