Thursday — Francis L. Hamilton, 72, was charged with terroristic threats for allegedly threatening to shoot a neighbor during an altercation May 9 near the defendant’s home on the 500 block of Forcht Street. No one was injured.
The victim told police that Hamilton was outside with his leashed dog and started yelling at the other man’s children. Police said Hamilton’s house sits in back of the victim’s home.
According to court documents, the victim sent his children into their house and told Hamilton that “if he threatens the children again, he will call the police.” The defendant allegedly called the man a derogatory name and threatened to shoot him.
“Hamilton made this statement,” documents said, “as he patted on his gun that was in his front pocket of his jacket before pulling it out slightly, enough for (the victim) to see the grip of the handgun.”
Police noted when they went to Hamilton’s home, he had his handgun in his pocket. They also noted he has a carry permit for it.
