Friday — Preston R. Bartmas, 36, of Summit Township, was charged with having three empty stamp bags and seven used syringes last month on Monroe Street near East Jefferson Street. Police said they found him about 3:10 p.m. March 24 after they got several calls for a possibly intoxicated man walking on the road.

Officers found Bartmas staggering in front of the Monroe Hotel, according to court documents. Police described him to be “extremely paranoid” and “in a daze.”

He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

9:34 p.m. April 11 — Two teenagers were allegedly caught in a foreclosed house on the 200 block of College Avenue. Calvin Horton, 19, and Mackensie Reges, 19, both of Butler, are charged with defiant trespass.

11:24 p.m. Sunday — Dale W. Hilgar, 68, of Eau Claire, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his 18-year-old grandson during a domestic dispute at a home on North Washington Street in Eau Claire. The teen told police that the defendant held him by the neck and held him against the wall, causing red marks on his neck, according to court documents.

Hilgar was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and later released on nonmonetary bond.

Sunday — A pair of 20-inch drainage pipes were stolen from Deer Creek Road near Saxonburg Boulevard in Clinton Township. The township owns the pipes, valued at $200.

7:03 p.m. April 15 — A hit-and-run driver in a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck struck a fire hydrant on Eagle Mill Road just south of Route 422 in Connoquenessing Township Police said the driver could not be found after the wreck.

3:51 p.m. April 15 — Paul Swiatek, 73, of Parker, was hurt when he lost control of his pickup truck and struck a concrete barrier on Route 38 just east of Sandy Point Road in Allegheny Township. He suffered minor facial injuries. Police cited him for careless driving.

3:05 p.m. April 15 — No one was injured when a car driven by Kurt N. Weaver struck a John Deere feed loader and continued into an embankment and a stop sign on Herman Road in Summit Township. James A. Michel, 42, of Butler, was the other driver. Police cited Weaver for driving too fast for conditions.

April 12 — An unknown vandal used an incendiary device to damage a 68-year-old man’s mailbox on Route 308 in Center Township. The incident happened April 11 or 12. Damage was estimated at $50.

6:26 p.m. April 10 — A pickup truck driven by John G. Hays, 56, of Prospect, struck a utility pole and a house number sign before ending on an embankment on Main Street in Prospect. Hays was not hurt. Police cited him for driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

12:44 p.m. April 14 — A Pittsburgh man was hurt in a suspected driving under the influence crash in East Franklin Township. The wreck happened when a car driven by Robert L. Day, 74, traveled onto an embankment and into a ditch on Route 28 north at the off ramp to Route 422 west.

Day was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township with apparent minor injuries. According to a police report, he is suspected of DUI but charges were not immediately filed. His car had to be towed.

April 13 — Seven alcoholic beverages were stolen in a burglary at River Road Beverage on Route 68 in Bradys Bend Township. The break-in happened between 4 p.m. April 12 and 10:45 a.m. April 13. The burglar, police said, used a rock to smash the front window and get inside. A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects.
