10:21 a.m. May 31 — A vehicle driven by Tara Lutz, 41, of Butler, struck another vehicle at Old Plank Road and Hampton Court. A 17-year-old girl was the other driver. No one was injured. Police said Lutz was cited for a stop sign violation.
May 29 — Luke G. Hogue, 35, of New Castle, was charged with illegally trying to buy a firearm at Dick’s Sport Goods Dec. 25 at the Greenwood Plaza. Police said he was denied the purchase after his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system.
Hogue is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and two counts of unsworn falsification to authorities, both misdemeanors. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
Friday — Police charged Christina M. Boyer, 45, of East Brady, Clarion County, with bouncing a check last year at the Moraine Pointe Plaza Giant Eagle store. The check was passed Dec. 7, and it was later returned because her account had insufficient funds to cover it. She is charged with bad checks.
May 28 — Police charged Devan J. Logue, 18, of Karns City, in connection with a February shoplifting incident at the Sheetz store on New Castle Road. Logue is accused of swiping two cases of beer about 10:25 p.m. Feb. 19 and using a juvenile to hold the door for him while acting as a lookout.
Logue is charged with corruption of minors and retail theft.
8:14 p.m. May 20 — Edward L. Caszatt Jr.. 48, of Butler allegedly shoplifted a 65-inch television, valued at $428, at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. He is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of retail theft Police noted he also has been barred from Walmart property.

9:56 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Heather M. Cieloszyk, 35, of Washington, Pa., struck a deer on Route 8 in Center Township. She was not injured.
5:16 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Kristin K. Auvil, 18, of Butler, struck a bear cub on Route 173 just south of Duffy Road in Brady Township. Neither Auvil nor her passenger, an 18-year-old Butler woman, was injured. The car had to be towed. A police report did not say what happened to the bear.
June 1 — An unknown thief cut several catalytic converters off trucks at Keystone Spring Services on New Castle Road in Muddy Creek Township. The theft happened between 5 p.m. May 29 and 8 a.m. June 1.
Police said they believe the suspect possibly was interrupted and fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

May 18 — Travis S. Gleeson, 45, of Portersville, was charged with not having a court-ordered “blow-and-go” device in a pickup truck that he crashed in Slippery Rock Township.
Police said Gleeson was traveling west on Frew Mill Road just west of Rose Point-Harlansburg Road around 1:50 a.m. April 1 when he lost control of the truck. The pickup went off the road and struck a yard sign on the lawn of a home. The lawn sustained unspecified damage.
The truck traveled back onto the road, but again left the road, striking a fence and bush, and caused more yard damage, according to a police report. Gleeson is accused of fleeing the scene, traveling west. Police later found the pickup, which was unoccupied.
The investigation eventually led police to identify Gleeson as the driver. He is charged with illegally driving a vehicle without an ignition interlock system, hit-and-run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, driving without a proper license, driving a vehicle without insurance, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
