3:51 p.m. Feb. 16 — Shawn C. Montgomery, 46, of Butler was allegedly caught with crack cocaine after police said they stopped him coming out of a suspected drug house on the 400 block of West Penn Street. According to court documents, Montgomery was found with two baggie corners containing suspected crack. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

11:32 p.m. Feb. 18 — A vehicle driven by Crystal Brooks, 34, of Butler struck a fire hydrant at Whitestown and South Eberhart roads. She was not injured. Her vehicle had to be towed. She was cited for driving too fast for conditions, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, and driving a vehicle with an open container of alcohol.

Monday — Richard G. Atstupenas, 61, of Butler was arraigned on charges that he illegally attempted to buy a gun last year at a Center Township store. He is accused of providing false information on a background check form that was required Oct. 19 when he tried to buy the gun at the Clearview Mall’s Rural King.
Atstupenas was arraigned on charges of unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and two counts of unsworn falsification to authorities, both misdemeanors. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
12:10 p.m. Sunday — A 35-year-old Butler man was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance after he was stopped for speeding on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township. Charges are pending lab results.
10:16 a.m. Sunday — An Allegheny County man was injured when he crashed his pickup truck and barrel rolled across Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Lawrence M. Amati, 63, of Imperial was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries. Harmony Fire District and Harmony EMS assisted.
12:09 p.m. Saturday — Police were called to Butler Memorial Hospital for a 23-year-old Chicora man who reported being assaulted the prior night at the Oil Boom Saloon on Main Street in Petrolia.
The investigation, police said, found that the victim had been struck multiple times in the parking lot at the bar. Police said their investigation continues.
6:24 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Shawn E. Ramsey, 31, of Parker struck a Kenworth truck on South Benbrook Road in Center Township. Joshua M. Bobby, 40, of Butler was the other driver. No one was injured.
12:37 p.m. Friday — Two people were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Mercer Road in Center Township. The wreck occurred when one of the drivers, Kenneth D. Peck, 68, of Slippery Rock, suffered an unknown medical emergency, police said.
Peck’s sport utility vehicle struck the back of an SUV driven by Carl W. Littlejohn, 77, of Butler, while both vehicle were northbound. Following the crash, Littlejohn’s vehicle traveled west off the road, and was subsequently struck on the driver’s door by Peck’s vehicle.
Peck and Littlejohn’s passenger, Dolly E. Littlejohn, 76, of Butler, were both taken by ambulance to the hospital to be evaluated for injuries, according to a police report. The Unionville Volunteer Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service assisted.
11:04 a.m. Feb. 20 — Guizhi Ambrose, 59, of Butler lost control of his car and struck a guide wire attached to a utility pole along Route 356 in Summit Township. Police noted the top half of the pole was sheared off in the crash. Ambrose was not injured. He was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.
9:02 a.m. Feb. 20 — Jessica J. Texter, 33, of Parker lost control of her SUV and struck a log that was laying in a ditch on Parker Pike in Parker Township. She was not injured, but her vehicle had to be towed. Police cited her for disregarding traffic lanes.
Feb. 20 — An unknown identity thief used a 41-year-old Clay Township woman’s personal information to obtain a credit card in her name. Police are investigating.
Feb. 20 — Cory Z. Ritzert, 24, of Karns City was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Clearfield Township. He was pulled over around 2:10 a.m. Jan. 31 on the 100 block of Hays Lane.
Ritzert is charged with driving under the influence, failing to yield the right of way, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
6:43 p.m. Feb. 19 — A 23-year-old Cherry Tree, Allegheny County man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was stopped for not having his headlights on while traveling on Route 8 in Center Township.Charges are pending lab results.
