3:10 p.m. Sunday — Kevin W. Koontz, 48, of Penn Township was allegedly caught with more than two dozen stamp bags of suspected heroin and other drug contraband on Spang Avenue. Police said they stopped him in the area of a suspected drug house.

During the investigation, according to court documents, police found a cardboard box that Koontz admitted belonged to him. The box contained 26 bags of suspected heroin, a digital scale, prescription medication, a plastic bag containing a small amount of an unknown white powder, a crack pipe and a syringe.

A pat-down search of the defendant turned up another crack pipe. Koontz is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Saturday — Kristoffer M. lon, 28, of Butler was arraigned on charges stemming from a February traffic stop on East Walnut Street near North Cliff Street. Police said he was pulled over about 10:10 p.m. Feb. 16 for running a stop sign, and they later learned his license was suspended.

Because of prior driving during suspension offenses, Ion is charged with a misdemeanor count of driving with a suspended license. He also is charged with a traffic violation for failing to stop at a stop sign. He was arraigned on the charges and released on his own recognizance.

Saturday — Rastis O. Marcy, 42, of Butler was arraigned on a charge of having marijuana in connection with his arrest Nov. 21 on a bench warrant on Chase Street near North Chestnut Street. He was arraigned on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bond.

11:35 p.m. Friday — Police said they found Justin R. Manny, 39, of Butler with two stamp bags and a loaded syringe of suspected heroin following a traffic stop on the 300 block of East Jefferson Street. A passenger in the vehicle, Manny also allegedly had an empty stamp bag. He is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

3:17 a.m. April 26 — Deanna M. Russo, 50, of Butler was found at the Terrace Apartments on South Cliff Street where she had previously been barred. She is charged with defiant trespass.

12:40 a.m. April 24 — Eric L. Powers, 37, of Butler Township was allegedly caught with two used syringes and an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin after police received a call for suspicious activity in the area of Whitmire and Ridge avenues. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday — Police reported they have a suspect in connection with a theft by deception investigation in Prospect. The thief is suspected of using a couple’s debt card to make several withdrawals, totaling $322.50, throughout the area.

4:28 p.m. April 27 — Richard L. Allen, 63, of Butler was hurt when a car’s passenger side mirror struck him as he was riding a bicycle on Unionville Road in Franklin Township. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries to the right leg, according to a police report. Allen was wearing a bicycle helmet. Mackenzie R. Shuler, 24, of Butler was the driver.

April 20 — Jessica M. Albares, 32, of Pittsburgh was arrested for drugged driving after she was found passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle at an oil well drilling site on East Portersville Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police said they learned that her license was suspended

A search of the vehicle, according to court documents, turned up several drug smoking pipes and hypodermic needles. A shooting kit that contained an unknown white substance also was found in the driver’s door.

Albares was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital or a blood test. Toxicology results were not available.

She was later arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, driving without a license and careless driving. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.
