Friday — Police charged John T. Tirk, 44, of Butler Township with being more than two-and-a-half times the state's legal limit for alcohol in connection with a one-vehicle wreck last month on Woodlawn Road that left him with apparent serious injuries.The wreck occurred around 2:10 p.m. Jan. 30, according to court documents, when Tirk's car struck a utility pole. He was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of injuries.Police eventually obtained a search warrant for Tirk's medical records, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.223 percent, documents said. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.He is charged with DUI, driving too fast for conditions and careless driving.

6:49 a.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Timothy D. Gerlach, 49, of Petrolia collided with a car on Route 488 in Portersville. The other driver, Margaret M. Skelley, 45, of Slippery Rock, was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital with apparent minor injuries. Her car had to be towed.The Portersville-Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department and Portersville-Muddy Creek EMS assisted at the scene. Police cited Gerlach for making an improper left turn.4:43 p.m. Tuesday — Alicia H. Harper, 20, of Portersville was injured when she lost control of her car and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. She suffered minor injuries. Her car had to be towed.6:30 p.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Jennifer L. Geiger, 37, of Utica, Venango County, struck a turning car at Route 8 and the Clearview Mall in Center Township. Madeline Olare, 61, of Butler was the other driver. No one was injured. The car had to be towed. Police cited Geiger for a red light violation.6:01 a.m. Monday — Snow-covered road conditions caused a rollover wreck on Saxonburg Boulevard just south of Rachel Drive in Clinton Township. Denise L. Shearer, 47, of Saxonburg, the driver, was not injured.Police said she was traveling south at about 40 mph in a snowstorm when she lost control of the car. The vehicle crossed the center lane, struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof. She was not injured, but her car was towed.Feb. 21 — A stray bullet struck and damaged a window at the Branchton Methodist Church on Branchton Road in Slippery Rock. Township police said the bullet was found on the ground adjacent to the window. Damage to the window was estimated at $500.Feb. 17 — An arrest warrant was issued for an Allegheny County man accused of having three bags of marijuana and other drug contraband stemming from a traffic stop last year in Slippery Rock Township.The suspect, Shayne T. Myers, 20, of Verona, was a passenger in the vehicle, which was pulled over on Kiester Road for a suspected window tint violation around 1:30 a.m. Feb. 7, 2020.Police said that in the vehicle they identified a bag belonging to Myers, and in that bag was the marijuana as well as the other items, which included suspected drug-packaging materials, a digital scale and $1,103 in currency.Myers “admitted that he was selling marijuana in Slippery Rock” at a cost of $10 per gram, court documents said. The marijuana that was seized totaled 30.22 grams, according to an analysis at the state police crime lab in Westmoreland County.The defendant is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also cited him for underage drinking.
