3:09 p.m. Wednesday — Dean R. Potts, 52, no known address, was arrested on a warrant in the lobby of the Butler County Courthouse. He was wanted for an alleged assault Monday in Butler. Potts was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Monday — Police charged Howard E. Bauer, 49, of Summit Township with drunken driving stemming from a crash about 10:10 p.m. Sept. 3. Officers found Bauer in his overturned pickup truck on Cupps Street.Moments earlier, police said, the pickup hit a concrete wall in the 300 block of Zeigler Avenue.According to court documents, Bauer admitted he left the Italian Social Club on Hickory Street, where he had consumed “half a dozen beers.”Results of a blood test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.24 percent, or three times the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.Bauer is charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving.Monday — Police filed drunken driving charges against Brian J. Campbell Jr., 23, of Butler in connection with a crash this month. Campbell was allegedly intoxicated about 3:15 a.m. Sept. 7 when his sport utility vehicle hit a utility pole on North Main Street.According to court documents, when officers got there Campbell appeared intoxicated. He admitted he had been drinking earlier that night, police said. A blood test determined his blood-alcohol level was 0.15 percent, or about double the level considered intoxicated under state law.Campbell is charged with DUI and reckless driving.4:19 a.m. Saturday — Joseph M. Thomas, 22, of Butler is accused of fighting with another man at West New Castle Street and North Sixth Avenue. Both men were gone by the time officers got there.But Thomas later showed up to pick up personal property previously turned in to the lost and found at the police station. Officers told him he would be getting a citation for the fight.When police searched him, they found two pills of the anti-anxiety medication clonazepam, which were wrapped in cellophane, in his shirt pocket.Campbell is charged with possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct.12:20 a.m. Saturday — Shawn M. Andre, 19, of Butler allegedly smashed three windows at the Salvation Army building on West Cunningham Street. He also is accused of breaking two side mirrors of a charity-owed van there.Police were called to the Salvation Army for a reported fight and spotted a man, believed to be Andre, running away. When officers later found him, he had cuts and scratches on both arms and hands, and he appeared to be intoxicated.Andre is charged with criminal mischief and public drunkenness.
Wednesday — Charles Allen, 46, of Lyndora was charged with drunken driving stemming from a Sept. 6 hit-and-run crash in Lyndora. Police suspect Allen backed into a car that was parked on Main Street. He drove away but returned. Officers found him sleeping in his parked car.Allen is charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run, careless driving and improperly backing up in a vehicle.7:03 p.m. Tuesday — Daniel G. Ehrman, 48, of Butler was arrested after police found him hiding in weeds behind Old Plank Estates. Police were called to the apartment complex for a domestic disturbance.Ehrman made his getaway after jumping out a two-story window at one of the apartments. Police cited him for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.1:27 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Charles H. Cox Jr. 49, of Crossville, Tenn., rear-ended a car at Meridian and Buttercup roads. Melissa Wygant, 46, of Fredonia, Mercer County, who was driving the car, was stopped to make a turn.Police cited Cox for careless driving.

12:38 a.m. Wednesday — Thomas J. Burns Jr., 39, of Arnold, Westmoreland County, was arrested after allegedly threatening to fight police who were called to a woman's home in Center Township.Troopers went to the woman's house on Sunset Drive, where the suspect had reportedly harassed her.Burns was arraigned on a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and a summary charge of public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.9:08 p.m. Tuesday — A young boy was seriously injured when the car he was riding in crashed and rolled on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. The wreck happened when Susan M. Mikulan, 27, of New Castle swerved the car to avoid another vehicle that drifted into her lane.Mikulan lost control of the car, hit an embankment and rolled over one time, landing on its wheel. Mikulan, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a bloody nose but did not need hospital treatment.A medical helicopter flew the boy of New Castle, who was in child safety seat, to Children's Hospital Pittsburgh, where he was treated for a gash to his forehead.Tuesday — A thief between 5 and 6 p.m. stole $850 from a home in the 100 block of Geibel Road in Summit Township.3:01 a.m. Friday — Stephanie N. Powers, 28, of Valencia was suspected of driving under the influence when she lost control of her car and crashed head-on into a truck tractor on Route 228 in Middlesex Township.Powers, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries. Vincent L. Ditz, 45, of Fryburg, Clarion County, who was driving the truck and wearing a seat belt, was not hurt.Friday — Police charged James K. Kaechele, 26, of Butler with seven traffic violations stemming from a hit-and-run crash Sept. 5 in Summit Township. Kaechele lost control of his pickup truck about 1:55 a.m. on Herman Road just east of Stutz Road, hit a guardrail and rolled onto its roof.He fled the scene on foot, not contacting authorities until “days after” the wreck, according to a police report. He reported that he suffered minor injuries.Police cited Kaechele for hit-and-run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, abandoning a vehicle on a highway, failing to stop and given information or rend aid after an accident, driving at an unsafe speed and two lane violations.11:24 p.m. Sept. 5 — A pickup truck driven by Austin H. Burns, 19, of Harrisville crashed into a fence on Route 138 in Washington Township. He was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.
Sept. 18 — A 14-year-old boy is suspected of taking mail from the mailbox at a home on Dight Road in Liberty Township. The boy, who police did not identify, faces a charge of criminal mischief in juvenile court.
