Monday — Darrin J. Dibiccaro, 46, of Butler was charged with being more than double the legal limit for alcohol last month when he nearly collided head-on with a police cruiser conducting a roving DUI patrol on Fairground Hill Road near Butler High School.

Police said Dibiccaro’s pickup truck was traveling about 1:44 a.m. March 19 when it narrowly missed hitting the patrol car. The officer stopped the truck and detected a “potent odor” of alcohol coming from the truck, according to court documents.

The defendant, who admitted he had been drinking, was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results, documents said, showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.196 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Dibiccaro is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.

March 29 — Kyle J. Willis, 43, of Slippery Rock was charged with being more than 2½ times the legal limit for alcohol last week when he was pulled over on South Main Street. Police said they stopped his car about 1 a.m. March 26 for first seeing it had a burned out head light.

Police said they smelled alcohol on Willis’ breath. He told the officers, “I’m not going to lie. I had a couple,” according to court documents. He admitted he had been drinking at a local bar.

Later, while unable to keep his balance during a field sobriety test, he told the officer, “I’m (expletive). You got me.”

Thursday — Marcus Allen Wells, 23, of Pittsburgh was charged with three felonies in connection with the January theft of a motorcycle in Butler. The charges followed an investigation by the police Western Regional Auto Theft Task Force.

Butler police initially investigated the case before advising state police of the vehicle’s whereabouts at Wells’ home in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood section. Troopers on Jan. 24 recovered the allegedly stolen cycle at the defendant’s house.

During an interview, according to court documents, Wells at first denied wrongdoing and claimed he bought the vehicle for $200. Later, however, he “confessed to the burglary and theft of the motorcycle,” a police affidavit said.
