Monday — Police charged Brian J. Vlassich, 35, of Butler with throwing his shoe at an officer and damaging a sink in the holding cell stemming from an incident last month at the police station.
Officers initially arrested Vlassich at his apartment building on the 200 block of East Brady Street where they found him impaired by alcohol. He was taken to the station and started arguing with officers, according to court documents.
The defendant was told to remove his shoes before entering the holding cell. But after taking off his first boot, he tossed it at Sgt. William Mayhugh, hitting the officer in the hand. Despite being told to stop, he threw his second boot, hitting Mayhugh in the legs, documents said.
Vlassich’s demeanor didn’t improve when he was placed in the cell. He allegedly started yelling and broke the drainage pipe to the sink, causing about $50 in damage.
Police charged him with institutional vandalism, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

6:14 p.m. Monday — Anne Gentile, 57, of Mars was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at South Benbrook Road and Greenwood Drive. Gentile, who was driving one of the vehicles, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
The other driver, Caleb Guthrie, 22, of Summerville, S.C., was cited for a stop-sign violation.
Saturday — Kurt J. Kieswetter, 49, of Butler was allegedly found with drugs and other contraband after he was arrested on a bench warrant at the Sheetz store on Center Avenue.
Police said Kieswetter initially gave officer a bogus name. A search turned up a stamp bag of suspected heroin as well as cocaine, according to a police report.
He was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrant. Police also charged him with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and false identification to law enforcement authorities.
12:45 p.m. Thursday — Alysha M. Zurzolo, 25, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting $71.70 in merchandise at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. She is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

12:14 p.m. Monday — Frank Dovidio, 29, of Hubbard, Ohio, was found with suspected marijuana following a traffic stop at Forest Drive and Bessemer Avenue. Dovidio, who was a passenger in the vehicle is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
