Thursday — Adam Joel Simmer, 41, of Clay Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from a call Jan. 4 for a man reportedly unresponsive in a car at Butler Memorial Park.
Police said they found Simmer about 11:30 a.m. slumped over the steering wheel of the car with the engine still running. Officers knocked on the window but got no response. They eventually opened the door and awakened the suspect.
Police said they later found Simmer was wanted on two warrants. They also found him with a drug smoking pipe with suspected cocaine residue on it, according to court documents, and a metal container also with suspected cocaine residue.
Simmer was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports subsequently showed that he had cocaine and methadone in this system.
In addition of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, he is charged with driving with a suspended license-DUI related and possession of drug paraphernalia.
[naviga:h3]Butler Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
Thursday — Police arrested Michele E. Boofer, 36, of Petrolia for felony shoplifting stemming from an incident Jan. 22 at a store at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza. She is accused of concealing $61 in cosmetics in her jacket.
Boofer, who has at least two prior shoplifting convictions, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft, and released on her own recognizance.
[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock Police[/naviga:h3]
Wednesday — Michael J.W. Scott, 28, of Slippery Rock pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana stemming from an arrest last week outside a convenience store on Franklin Street.
Police said officers working surveillance about 8 p.m. Jan. 18 caught Scott removing a bag from an acquaintance’s vehicle at the store. They followed him as he walked away and a short time later stopped him at another nearby store.
The suspect turned over the bag. Inside was a glass jar with about 5 grams of marijuana. He was arrested and arraigned Jan. 19 on misdemeanor drug charges.
Scott on Wednesday appeared at District Judge William O’Donnell’s courtroom in Slippery Rock for his preliminary hearing. Instead, court records showed, he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana.
O’Donnell ordered him to pay $712.50 in fines and court costs.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
4:16 p.m. Saturday — Troopers found several dozen bags of suspected heroin during a drunken-driving arrest in Buffalo Township. Police did not immediately identify the driver, a 61-year-old Kittanning man, or his passenger, a 49-year-old Shelocta man.
Both men, according to a police report, had a combined 56 bags of suspected heroin and a gram of suspected cocaine on them. Charges are pending lab results.
Saturday — Someone armed with a chair struck the windshield of a 20-year-old woman’s car on Stillwater Lane in Slippery Rock Township. The vandalism was reported at 1 a.m.
Saturday — An unknown vandal shot out a mailbox at a 53-year-old woman’s home on Slater Road in Allegheny Township. The suspect was in a vehicle and drove away after the vandalism that happened between 11:30 p.m. and midnight.
11:30 p.m. Friday — Jeffrey L. Parkinson, 28, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed in Concord Township.
Police said Parkinson was eastbound on Zion Church Road when his car slid through the intersection with Seven Hill Road and into a yard in the 600 block of Cherry Road. The vehicle spun around and rolled onto its roof.
The suspect, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured and managed to climb out of the car, which had to be towed. The Chicora Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
6:20 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Gerald Stenta, 70, of Ridgway, Elk County, struck a deer on Route 28 north at exit 14 in Buffalo Township. Stenta was not hurt but his car had to be towed.
Friday — A car was stolen from the parking lot at the T-Bar on Herman Road in Clearfield Township. The owner, a 43-year-old Fenelton woman, was inside the bar when the car was taken between 8:50 and 8:55 p.m.
Wednesday — An unknown thief stole a .22-caliber Cricket brand youth hunting rifle and a nail gun from a home on McGregor Road in Clay Township. The theft happened between Jan. 19 and Wednesday.
12:46 a.m. Jan. 16 — A 24-year-old Slippery Rock man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of DUI at the Sheetz store parking lot on Franklin Street in Slippery Rock.

1:35 a.m. Sunday — A Venango County man was seriously injured when the car he was driving struck a culvert and rolled over at least one time on Lisbon Road just south of Morning Glory Road in Scrubgrass Township.
Matthew J. Carlson, 35, of Pleasantville, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian hospital following the crash. His condition was not known. The car had to be towed.
The Emlenton and Clintonville volunteer fire departments and Emlenton Ambulance assisted police at the scene.
12:15 a.m. Saturday — Two people were hurt in a one-vehicle crash in Emlenton.
The accident happened when Eli R. Albring, 20, of Edmond, Mich., lost control of his car on snow-covered Kerr Avenue and struck a utility pole. Albring and his passenger, Stephen M. St. Germain, 24, of Cincinnati, Ohio, were taken to an unspecified hospital with minor injuries. Albring was wearing a seat belt; St. Germain was not.
Police cited Albring for driving at an unsafe speed and disregarding traffic lanes.
6:06 p.m. Friday — A 37-year-old New York man faces drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Clinton Township, Venango County.
The driver, Adel Abdulla Al-Ahwas, 37, of Brooklyn, was caught with khat, an illegal herbal stimulant that when chewed has the similar effect as cocaine and methamphetamine.
Al-Ahwas is facing a charge of drug possession in the investigation, which is ongoing.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
11:36 p.m. Saturday — Cara Booth, 34, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Johnson Street in Rayburn Township. Police said they also found her with suspected marijuana.
6:56 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Kevin L. Fairman, 46, of Elderton struck a deer on Route 28 south just east of Horseshoe Drive in South Buffalo Township. A police report noted the deer was hit head-on and died instantly.

1:51 a.m. Saturday — One person was hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in Wolf Creek Township. Tammy S. Colwell, 38, of Franklin, a passenger in the car, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.
The driver, Anthony O. Davis, 41, of Titusville, Crawford County, was unable to stop the car on snow-covered Hemlock Road at East Gilmore Road and slid through the intersection. The vehicle, which crashed into a ditch, had to be towed.
Davis, Colwell and a second passenger were all wearing seat belts. Police cited Davis for driving at an unsafe speed.
State Police, New Castle
9:40 p.m. Thursday — Dominick M. Peffer, 18, of Evans City lost control of his pickup truck and struck another pickup that was parked in a driveway of a home on Route 19 at George Washington Road in Washington Township, Lawrence County.
Police said the teen lost control of his northbound truck as a snow plow passed him while traveling south.
