Butler PoliceFriday — Police charged Jacqueline S. Jack, 40, of Summit Township with drunken driving in connection with a two-vehicle wreck that injured two others last month.Jack was driving a pickup truck about 10:40 p.m. Feb. 27 when it rear-ended a sport utility vehicle that was stopped for a red light on West Jefferson Street at Chestnut Street.Judy Queen, the other driver, told police that Jack said she would exchange information with Queen at the parking lot of a nearby store. Instead, police said, Jack got back in her pickup and fled.Queen and her passenger, Angel Smart, later went to Butler Memorial Hospital for neck pain and back pain, respectively.City surveillance cameras captured the crash, and showed Jack running a red light as she drove away.Police tracked Jack’s pickup, a rental vehicle, to a bar in Butler Township. She appeared intoxicated and admitted being in the wreck, police said.A breath test subsequently showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.178 percent, more than double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.Jack is charged with driving under the influence, causing an accident involving injury, hit-and-run and not stopping at a red light.Friday — Sarah R. Snodgrass, 35, of Slippery Rock was charged with having drug contraband stemming from a two-vehicle wreck about 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23 on the 200 block of North McKean Street.Police said they stopped Snodgrass’ pickup truck on Fairview Avenue following the crash.The suspect, who admitted being a heroin user, police said, let an officer search her pickup. The search turned up a syringe.Snodgrass is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving the wrong way on a one-way road.Feb. 29 — Police charged a former employee with shoplifting $350 worth of merchandise and stealing $100 in currency last month from the Pullman Square Kmart store.The suspect, Tiffany L. Hankins, 18, of Butler, admitted wrongdoing, police said.Hankins is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking and retail theft.
Butler Twp Police8:30 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Zachary P. Lawson, 20, of Butler crossed into opposing traffic and struck another car on Litman Road. Lawson was cited for driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.Richard Mangel, 71, of Butler was the other driver. No one was hurt in the crash, but both vehicles had to be towed.1:40 p.m. Saturday — Adam C. Bonifate, 39, of Allison Park, Allegheny County, was arrested after he was caught allegedly shoplifting $145 worth of medication from the Giant Eagle at Moraine Pointe Plaza.Bonifate was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and a summary charged of disorderly conduct. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.Court records showed Bonifate has four prior convictions for shoplifting. He also is awaiting preliminary hearings for three other 2015 shoplifting cases — two in Washington County and one in Allegheny County.
Grove City PoliceMonday — Police suspect someone armed with a slingshot fired an unknown object through a second-story window on the 300 block of Blaine Street. The vandalism happened between 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.1:22 a.m. Saturday — Michael J. Flynn Jr., 24, of Collegeville, Montgomery County, was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Police also charged him with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving with an unregistered vehicle.Saturday — A thief overnight broke into several vehicles on the 300 block of North Madison Avenue. Money and a global positioning system device were stolen.Police remind residents to lock their vehicles.Noon Friday — Robert I. Magee, 33, of Grove City was picked up on an arrest warrant at a home on the 500 block of Stewart Avenue.The warrant was issued for Magee after he failed to appear for a preliminary hearing stemming from a 2015 case that borough police filed against him for possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arraigned on the misdemeanor and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
State Police, ButlerMarch 1 — Police charged Kyle Q. Mauthe, 26, of Fairview with threatening to cut a woman’s throat at her home on Washington Street in Fairview last month.The alleged victim, Barbara Bachman, identified Mauthe as her “soon to be stepson,” according to court documents. She said the defendant, who lives across the street from her, came to her house about 8 p.m. Feb. 25 and began pounding on the door.She said Mauthe appeared under the influence of drugs and alcohol and he threatened to “slit her throat with a knife,” documents said. When troopers got there, the suspect was gone. Bachman was not hurt.Mauthe is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.
State Police, New Castle1:54 a.m. Sunday — Ronald H. Miller, 52, of Fombell, Beaver County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 488 near Lookout Avenue in Perry Township, Lawrence County.Thursday — Rhonda L. Eppinger, 36, of Scott Township was arrested on charges she broke into a neighbor’s home on the 4000 block of Harlansburg Road shortly after midnight March 1 and stole six gold rings valued at a combined $1,000.Police said she sold the stolen rings at a gold store.Eppinger was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. She was placed in Lawrence County Jail on $50,000 bail following arraignment in the case.
