Butler Police9:41 p.m. Tuesday — Mary E. Adams, 37, suffered an apparent heroin overdose at her apartment on the 200 block of Second Street.Police and paramedics with the Butler Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service were called. Emergency crews found Adams unconscious in the bedroom.Between the woman’s body and arm, according to court documents, officers noticed a syringe. On a bedside table, they saw five bags and three empty bags of suspected heroin. Also in the room was a cooking spoon, two crack cocaine pipes and other drug contraband.Medics revived Adams with Narcan. She admitted injecting three bags of heroin. She refused hospital treatment.Adams is charged with possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.1:38 a.m. Tuesday — Taylor J. Dawson, 29, of Butler was arrested for drunken driving after a rear-end collision at Center Avenue and South Monroe Street. He smelled of alcohol and admitted to having three drinks earlier, court documents said.The suspect failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.159 percent, nearly double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.Dawson is charged with driving under the influence.Tuesday — Joshua A. Sullivan, 30, of Cadogan, Armstrong County, was charged with DUI stemming from a traffic stop at 2:47 a.m. Sept. 22 on North Main Street hill.Police said they stopped Sullivan going 48 mph in a 35 mph zone. Officers smelled alcohol on his breath and he appeared intoxicated, according to court documents.Sullivan failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level of 0.092 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to DUI, Sullivan is charged with speeding, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and without insurance.2:34 p.m. Monday — Amy Anne Blakely, 40, of Butler was caught with suspected drugs after police got a report of a woman stumbling into traffic in the 400 block of West Jefferson Street.Police found Blakely nearby at West New Castle and North Chestnut streets. She appeared impaired and was arrested for public intoxication. A search of her purse turned up two stamp bags and several empty bags of suspected heroin and a hypodermic needle, according to court documents.Blakely is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.5:47 a.m. Sunday — April D. Stanford, 40, allegedly tried to swallow an unknown pill before an officer could seize it after police were called for a disturbance at her home on the 300 block of West Brady Street.Police arrested Stanford after they found her intoxicated, court documents said, She was taken to the police station and was emptying her pockets when an officer saw her put something in her mouth.The officer moved in but was unable to get the suspect to spit out the pill, which was unidentified. Stanford is charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evident, a misdemeanor, and public drunkenness, a summary offense.10:57 p.m. Saturday — Rodney D. Rosen, 48, of Butler Township was arrested for drunken driving after his pickup truck struck another pickup that was parked on the 300 block of West Diamond Street.The suspect admitted he hit the other truck but only after swerving to avoid oncoming traffic, court documents said. Rosen, who smelled of alcohol, also acknowledged he had “three drinks” that night.A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.197 percent, documents said, more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit. He is charged with DUI and careless driving.State Police, ButlerTuesday — Police filed criminal charges against two Butler County men stemming from a June 24 traffic stop at South Seventh Avenue and New Castle Road in Butler. Austin J. Rusch, 21, of Petrolia was arrested for drugged driving following the stop and an evaluation by a police drug recognition expert.Rusch’s passenger, Chad M. Undercuffler, 23, of Clearfield Township, was found with empty bags of heroin and a hypodermic needle, according to court documents. He also allegedly gave a bogus name and provided police with fake photo identification.When Undercuffler was eventually identified, police said they learned he was wanted on a bench warrant.Meanwhile, results of a blood test later showed the presence of heroin, marijuana and morphine in Rusch’s system.Rusch is charged with multiple counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without insurance and driving without valid inspection.Undercuffler is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and false identification to law enforcement authorities.7:22 p.m. Oct. 8 — Taylor N. McGinnis, 21, of Butler was caught with suspected marijuana and other drug contraband following a traffic stop in Penn Township. She was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation on Route 8 north of Renfrew Road in Penn Township.McGinnis is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Clarion8 a.m. Tuesday — A Genesis mountain bike was found on Route 68 near Doc’s Tavern in Toby Township. The owner can claim the bicycle by calling police at 814-226-1710.
State Police, Mercer3 p.m. Tuesday — An elderly man was injured when a car hit him as he walked in the parking lot of Pine Grove Square shopping plaza in Pine Township, Mercer County. Jon W. Harrity, 85, of Kennerdell was taken to Grove City Medical Center with unknown injuries.Police said Pauline J. Tiche, 87, of Jackson Center was backing out of a parking space when her 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier hit Harrity, who fell and struck his head and left hand. Tiche was cited for a moving violation.
State Police, New Castle3:14 p.m. Wednesday — A teenager was hurt when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and crashed into a utility pole on Church Road just south of Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Amanda R. Ott, 16, of Ellwood City, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.Police said the teen was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
