Today — Police accused Matthew R. Tilko, 24, of Butler with drugged driving stemming from a multivehicle crash about 9:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in the 400 block of East Penn Street.Officers were called to the crash and found Tilko unconscious and slumped over the steering wheel of his pickup truck. Paramedics treated him after he was pulled out of the truck.The crash happened when Tilko hit a car, traveled over a sidewalk and struck two more cars that were parked in a driveway, according to a police report. The suspect later was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Police said Tilko is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and reckless driving.Sunday — An unknown thief stole four white skull head valve stem covers from a pickup truck at a home in the 300 block of West New Castle Street. The stolen property is valued at $75.12:06 p.m. Saturday — Celeste M. Opperman, 31, of Butler was arrested on a pair of bench warrants at her home in the 300 block of West New Castle Street.Officers searched Opperman, a police report said, and found her with a syringe, four empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a crack pipe. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrants. Police said they also cited her for possession of drug paraphernalia.

4:45 a.m. Sunday — Michael Gould, 21, of North Versailles, Allegheny County, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted someone and broke windows at 180 Thorn Run Road in Oakland Township. He later ran from troopers who later found him hiding in a field.Police said Gould was taken to the Butler County Prison to await arraignment on several charges including simple assault, terroristic threats and criminal mischief.1:28 a.m. Sunday — Justin D. Schweinsberg, 28, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed into three parked vehicles — two sport utility vehicles and a pickup truck — in the Wallace Family Auto Sales parking lot on Route 8 in Center Township.3:40 p.m. Saturday — Andrew C. Flecker, 19, of Prospect was hurt when the bicycle he was riding collided with a car on Route 488 just north of Gibson Lane in Prospect. The crash happened when Flecker's westbound bike crossed into the opposing lane and into the path of the car that Wendell D. Gromley, 72, of Homer City, Indiana County, was driving.Flecker, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.7:20 a.m. Saturday — The driver of a car was hurt when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed on West Liberty Road, just west of Moore Road, in Worth Township. A police report only identified the driver as a male from Harmony. He was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. Police said he was cited for driving too fast for conditions.10:28 p.m. Friday — One person was hurt when a pickup driven by Honey J. Walsh, no age given, of Hilliards sideswiped a car on Route 308, just north of Tinker Road, in Cherry Township. The truck continued north about 500 yards after losing the front right tire.Police said Walsh abandoned her pickup and fled the scene. The other driver, Angela R. Morehead, 19, of Butler, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.6:39 p.m. Friday — Matthew T. Bonanti, 25, of Erie was seriously hurt in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction crash in a construction zone on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.A police report said Bonanti's car rear-ended a car driven by Christopher M. Ernst, 25, of Erie. The collision forced Ernst's vehicle into the back of a car driven by Daniel C. Jillisky, 33, of Pittsburgh. In turn, Jillisky's car was pushed into the rear of a pickup driven by Charles K. Crawford, 58, of Sandy Lake, Mercer County.Bonanti, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with major injuries. Police said he was cited for careless driving.Thursday — An unknown thief stole four copper grounding bars from a cell phone tower on Russell Road in Winfield Township. The suspect accessed the tower, owned by Verizon Wireless, after cutting a hole into a chain-link fence, owned by Crown Castle USA.The stolen property, valued at $350, was taken between Nov. 13 and Thursday.7:50 a.m. Wednesday — A SUV crashed into a white, plastic fence at a home in the 200 block of Freeport Road in Summit Township. A police report did not identify the driver who lost control of the vehicle on the slush- and snow-covered road just south of Grohman Road. Police said they cited the driver for a lane violation.Wednesday — Police charged Traci L. Mercer, 40, in connection with a suspected theft at a storage area near her apartment in Slippery Rock Township. She is charged with theft and criminal mischief.March 4 — A black, Makarov handgun was stolen from a home on Harper Road in Concord Township. The gun, valued at $130, was taken between Sept. 1 and March 4.

Sunday — An unknown burglar stole numerous items of jewelry and $200 in loose change from a home on Copper Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The break-in happened between Feb. 27 and Sunday.11:30 p.m. Friday — A Lawrence County woman was hurt in a hit-and-run crash on Route 208 at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township. Ronni Hufnagel, 37, of Volant was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries following the wreck.An unknown driver of a dark-colored Dodge pickup is suspected of hitting the car that Hufnagel was driving and not stopping. A police report said the truck sustained front-end damage and is missing at least one headlight. The truck also has black transfer paint from Hufnagel’s car.Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.10:12 p.m. Friday — Six people were hurt in a one-car crash on Route 68 in Bradys Bend Township. The wreck happened when Ashley B. Francis, 17, of Chicora lost control of the car and hit a utility pole.Francis and five of her passengers were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries.Those car’s passengers were Darius Davis, 15, of Parker; Brandon T. Stevenson, 14, of Chicora; Hunter J. King, 17, address unknown; Jonathan Rosengren, no age or address given; and Nicholas Robinson, no age or address given.East Brady and Sugar Creek volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene. Police said Francis was cited for driving too fast for conditions.5 p.m. Friday — Dylin J. Whetzel, 20, of Harrisville and Paul M. McConnell, 52, of Grove City were hurt in a rear-end collision in Pine Township. The crash happened when a pickup driven by Whetzel’s struck the back of a pickup driven by McConnell at Route 208 and Patterson School Road.McConnell’s truck traveled down a 20-foot embankment and ended in a ditch following the collision. Both drivers and Thomas E. Stevenson, 57, of Grove City, a passenger in McConnell’s pickup, suffered minor injuries. All three men were wearing seat belts. Police said Whetzel was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.Friday — Someone stole a Pennsylvania license plate YJG-1982 from a Grove City man’s vehicle at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township.Tuesday — An employee, who police did not identify, is suspected of stealing merchandise from the Kwik Fill convenience store on Leesburg-Grove City Road in Pine Township. A police report said the investigation continues and the value of the merchandise taken is not known. The items were taken between Jan. 1 and Tuesday.
