8:05 a.m. Tuesday — Jason J. Pineda, 27, was arrested for allegedly giving a bogus name to police who were called for a reported disturbance at his apartment on the 400 block of West North Street. He also provided a fake birth date, court documents said.
Pineda was arraigned a charge of false identification to law enforcement authorities, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail.
[naviga:h3]Adams Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
Nov. 15 — Casey D. Huffman, 29, of Freeport was arrested on felony drug charges stemming from a Nov. 12 traffic stop in the driveway of a home on the 200 block of Myoma Road.
Huffman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was found carrying 33 stamp bags and 10 empty bags of suspected heroin, according to court documents.
During the stop, police said, Huffman’s cell phone went off a number of times, including seven missed calls and five text messages. Police later got a search warrant for the phone and found those messages were “related to drug transactions,” documents said.
Huffman is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, both felonies, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
He was placed in the Butler County following his arrest.
On Tuesday, Huffman waived his preliminary hearing on the charges and in turn was released from prison after his bail was reduced to $6,000 unsecured.
[naviga:h3]Butler Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
1:19 a.m. Wednesday — A 15-year-old girl was caught driving her mother’s vehicle on Acre Avenue after sneaking out of her home. Police said they stopped the girl when she tried to return home.
She is charged in Butler County juvenile court with unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without a license.
Monday — Police charged Corey M. Johns, 40, of Butler in connection with a shoplifting incident earlier this month at the Butler Commons’ Walmart He is accused of taking $105.37 in merchandise. He is charged with a summary count of retail theft.
[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]
Tuesday — Madelene R. McConnell, 21, of Slippery Rock was charged in last month’s theft of a Slippery Rock University student’s winter jacket from the woman’s locker room at the Aebersold Student Recreation Center in Slippery Rock Township.
The jacket, valued at $200 was taken during the evening of Oct. 31. Security camera footage did not capture the alleged crime. However, according to court documents, McConnell is seen on the surveillance video entering the locker room with a large gym bag.
The bag, which was strapped over her shoulder, appeared “almost empty” police said. But when she later leaves the locker room, the bag appeared “stuffed full.”
Police went to McConnell’s home and when she opened the door, documents said, an officer noticed the stolen jacket draped over a chair inside the doorway.
The officer asked her why she stole the property, according to a police affidavit, and she replied, “I don’t know, the jacket does not even fit me.”
She is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.
5:25 p.m. Nov. 14 — A Slippery Rock University student was caught with suspected marijuana and other contraband at his student housing facility in [naviga:h3]Slippery Rock Township.[/naviga:h3]
Jakob D. Hickey, 19, of Pittsburgh is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police said they found Hickey after they got a call because of the smell coming from a room at Building E.
He is accused of turning over both a pill bottle containing suspected marijuana and a metal drug-smoking pipe.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Tuesday — Police charged Martin J. Irwin, 28, of Jackson Township with being nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol and on drugs in connection with a one-vehicle wreck last month in Worth Township.
Irwin’s car ended on its roof after the Oct. 28 crash on Route 108 at Wolf Lane. He admitted to having “enough to drink” before driving that day, according to court documents. He also allegedly acknowledged having used cocaine.
Police took him to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test. Toxicology reports later confirmed he had cocaine in his system and his blood alcohol was 0.22 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Irwin is charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
Tuesday — Kadin M. Hinish, 19, of Slippery Rock was charged in connection with a Nov. 15 altercation at a Slippery Rock Township apartment where she allegedly assaulted two woman.
Hinish is accused of hitting Haley Toth in the face multiple times after she found Toth in her ex-boyfriend’s bedroom. The defendant then confronted Emily Staudmyer, according to court documents, and ran at the woman, causing her to fall down the stairs.
Police said Hinish subsequently struck Staudmyer in the head multiple times at the bottom of the stairs.
Toth suffered bruising and swelling under the right eye and swelling on her forehead. Staudmyer complained of head pain and later was diagnosed with a concussion following medical treatment.
Hinish is charged with two counts each of simple assault and harassment.
Tuesday — A Venango County man was charged with DUI stemming from a traffic stop this month in Franklin Township. James M. Haskin, 67, of Emlenton was stopped about 1:50 a.m. Nov. 11, police said, after his vehicle crossed the white fog line.
Haskin admitted that he had been drinking alcohol earlier that night and he failed field sobriety tests, according to court documents.
He was taken to the Butler police station for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.136 percent.
In addition to DUI, he is charged with disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
Tuesday — Police charged Joshua J. Lamping, 23, of Boyers with having marijuana in connection with an August traffic stop for speeding in Brady Township. Police said they clocked his sport utility vehicle about 12:45 a.m. Aug. 13 traveling 78 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 8.
When Lamping entered his center console to retrieve his driving-related information for police, according to court documents, a trooper spotted a plastic baggie containing what appeared to be marijuana.
Police said he subsequently admitted having a drug-smoking device.
Lamping is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
11:15 p.m. Thursday — A 36-year-old Freeport woman was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana on Route 28 north at the Exit 13 ramp in East Deer Township, Allegheny County.
Police did not identify the woman, who was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint. A search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending lab results.
