1:14 p.m. Tuesday — Timothy J. Carey, 26, was arrested after he allegedly slapped his 2-year-old son on the side of the face at his home on the 500 block of West Brady Street.

Carey is accused of being upset with the child for urinating on the bathroom floor that morning. He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and released. on his own recognizance.

[naviga:h3]Butler Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

Monday — Bailey Ann Hines, 22, and Hannah M. Hines, 19, both of Butler Township of Butler were charged in connection with a shoplifting incident earlier this month at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Police said the defendants about 2:30 p.m. Nov. 8 tried to walk out of the store with $259.38 in unpaid merchandise. Among the items were two coffee makers and a 14-piece knife set.

Both defendants are charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and conspiracy. Bailey Hines also is charged with defiant trespass, having been barred from the store in June 2016, according to court documents.

Monday — Nathan A. Allison, 30, of Butler Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop last month on Fairground Hill Road.

Police said they stopped Allison about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 21 after his car was seen crossing into the opposing lane and nearly hit several mailboxes on Highfield Road near Nixon Avenue.

He admitted that he had consumed four or five beers after a wedding he had attended that day, according to court documents. When asked if he could submit to field sobriety tests, he said he could “without any problems.”

But Allison failed every test, police said, and was arrested. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.152 percent, nearly double the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.

In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with careless driving.

1:05 p.m. Nov. 16 — A Clearfield County man was caught at the Sheetz store on New Castle Road where he had previously been barred. The defendant Michael J. Zawadzki, 65, of Coalport, who is banned form all Sheetz properties, is charged with defiant trespass.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

Monday — Belinda M. Hodge, 54, of Mercer was picked up on a felony arrest warrant for access device fraud.

Police said the charges are the result of an investigation that found Hodge had taken more than $6,000 from the victim’s bank account between June and July.

Investigators credited Sharon Police for assisting in the arrest. Hodge was arraigned on the sole charge of access device fraud, and later released on $15,000 unsecured bail.

11:10 p.m. Tuesday — Stephen C. Kuzma, 49, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly tried to break into his ex-wife’s house on Sutton Lane in Clay Township. He also is accused of threatening to stab her with a knife and trying to fight her boyfriend at the home.

Kuzma was arraigned on charges of attempted burglary, terroristic threats, stalking, harassment, disorderly conduct, loitering and prowling at night, and public drunkenness.

Police were initially called to Robin Kuzma’s home at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday. She told police the defendant was there and would not leave, according to court documents. He also grabbed her boyfriend, James Scheall, and tried to pick a fight with him.

The defendant, who was allegedly intoxicated, left before troopers got there. But within 90 minutes, documents said, police were called back to the home.

Scheall called to report Kuzma was trying to kick in the front door. The defendant also allegedly had a knife and threatened to kill his ex-wife. Police got there and arrested Kuzma.

Tuesday — Cory F. McDonald, 23, of Slippery Rock Township was charged with felony assault for allegedly attacking his former employer last week in Portersville.

The victim, Alex McGee, told police the incident happened about 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 after the defendant, a previous employee of his, came to his house on East Portersville Road.

McDonald was there “to retrieve a paycheck,” according to court documents. McGee advised the defendant that the paycheck was “not available.”

The accused tackled the victim from behind, documents said, and punched him in the face and kicked him about the back. Police said they eventually spoke to McDonald in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle store at Slipper Rock Plaza, and he admitted to the assault.

Later, police learned that McGee had driven to UPMC Passavant Cranberry, where he was diagnosed with fractured ribs and a partially collapsed lung, documents said,

Police on Tuesday obtained an arrest warrant for McDonald on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

Tuesday — Robert L. Miller, 45, of Hilliard and his girlfriend, Amber R. Wallace, 36, were caught with suspected marijuana and drug contraband earlier this month at her home on Whitmire Road in Oakland Township.

Police said they were called to the home for a report of drug activity there. Both defendants appeared to be impaired, according to court documents, and Wallace admitted they had “shot heroin” in the laundry room.

Police said they found in the room seven empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, a drug-cooking spoon, syringe and a container with suspected marijuana residue.

Miller and Wallace are both charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia

[naviga:h3]State Police, Mercer[/naviga:h3]

Monday — Police reported they are investigating a case of suspected indecent exposure in September at the Wendy’s restaurant on Leesburg Grove City Road. An unknown older white male, according to a police report, sat down and exposed his genitals about 6 p.m. Sept. 27.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.

5:37 p.m. Saturday — An unknown thief made off with a 50-year-old Ohio man’s wallet and car keys at the Eat’n Park restaurant on Leesburg Grove City Road in Springfield Township.

The thief is described as a bald-headed black male with a medium build. He was wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt/sweater and light colored pants. He left the restaurant in a white Lincoln.

Police said their investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

6:34 p.m. Sunday — An Allegheny County teenager lost control of her sport utility vehicle and crashed into an embankment and tree along Interstate 79 in Plain Grove Township. Nicole L. Kadlecik, 18, of Coraopolis who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

Police cited Kadlecik for driving at an unsafe speed.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittaning[/naviga:h3]

1:16 a.m. Wednesday — Charges are pending against a 31-year-old Butler man after a traffic stop on Route 28 north, Harrison Township, Allegheny County. Police said the vehicle was pulled over for several traffic violations and the suspect, who was not named pending the filing of charges, admitted to using marijuana before driving.

12:53 p.m. Wednesday — Charges are pending against a 30-yaer-old Lower Burrell man after a traffic stop on Route 28 north at the Creighton ramp, East Deer Township. Police said a trooper working a checkpoint at the location smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle passing through the checkpoint. Police said the driver, who was not named pending the filing of charges, was found to be impaired.

11:12 p.m. Wednesday — Two Allegheny County residents were charged following a checkpoint at Route 28 north at the Creighton ramp, East Deer Township. Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old Cheswick woman was found to be driving and impaired and to have an active warrant out of Allegheny County. a search of the vehicle found suspected drug paraphernalia, police said. The driver refused a blood test and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. A 32-year-old New Kensington man was also charged.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Franklin[/naviga:h3]

7:30 a.m. Wednesday — Police are investigating the theft of 60 cents in nickels during a burglary incident in Barkeyville. The incident occurred at 5452 Pittsburgh Road, when unknown suspects broke into the home through a rear door. Items were moved inside the home and the change was found missing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 814-676-6596.
