5:53 p.m. Monday — Michael W. Norfleet, 49, of Pittsburgh was placed in the Butler County Prison after he turned himself in at the police station on an arrest warrant.Police in the warrant charged Norfleet with simple assault in connection with a Saturday incident. He was arraigned on the charge and placed in the county jail on $2,000 bail. Court records showed that at the time he surrendered, Norfleet was free on his own recognizance stemming from a felony insurance fraud case in Butler that state police filed March 11.2:30 p.m. Monday — Rastis O. Marcy, 36, of Butler was arrested on an out-of-county warrant at his home in the 100 block of West New Castle Street. Marcy was placed in the Butler County Prison on the Clearfield County warrant that was issued March 27 after he violated a court order stemming from a 2009 drug case, court records showed.8:12 a.m. Monday — Jason C. Millward, 21, was arraigned on a charge of simple assault after a weekend domestic dispute at his home on Zeigler Avenue.Police said Millward about 9 p.m. Saturday allegedly grabbed his wife, Cheyenne Millward, and threw her against the wall. She suffered minor injuries to the back of her head, arms and left hand. Millward was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail, following arraignment.Monday — Two lock boxes and a jewelry box were taken in a burglary Sunday or Monday at a Greenview Drive apartment. The suspect possibly got into the apartment through the unlocked door.One of the lock boxes contained prescription medication. The victim reported there was nothing of value in the other lock box or in the jewelry box.5:53 p.m. March 22 — A car driven by Laurel Ann Fredley, 18, of Butler allegedly struck the passenger side of a pickup truck on South Chestnut Street near Wagner Avenue, and did not stop. The pickup driver, Ryan D. Barto, was able to provide police with the car's license plate number.Police tracked down Fredley, who faces tickets for hit-and run and careless driving.Barto's truck had $2,575 in damage.

Tuesday — Police charged Deborah J. Bush, 60, of Butler with shoplifting items last week from two stores at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza.Bush is accused of stealing 15 items, worth $870, from Kohl's. She also went directly to the Shoe Carnival store where she allegedly shoplifted a pair of $30 shoes.Police said when a shoe store employee tried to stop her, she fled and drove away in a car. Investigators, however, obtained the car's license plate number and tracked her down.Bush is charged with two misdemeanor counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property for the Kohl's incident. She is charged with summary retail theft for the Shoe Carnival case.

11:40 p.m. Monday — A burglar, described as a black male, forced his way into a home on Rainey Avenue and assaulted the 30-year-old woman who lives there. He fled, possibly driving a white Ford pickup truck. The suspect is described as about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with an average build. He had a short goatee. Anyone with information is to call 724-458-7925.Butler County DetectivesMonday — Authorities said Jesse E. Smith, 32, of Butler was caught with a homemade knife when he showed up at the Butler County Probation office for a drug test.The weapon was made of a piece of wooden rod fashioned with an X-Acto-style knife blade at the end and capped with a cover made of black electrical tape.Smith is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon in a court facility.

Tuesday — Michael L. Jones, 23, of Coraopolis, Allegheny County, was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop March 21 on Route 8 at the Dairy Queen in Penn Township. Police suspected he was impaired by marijuana when they stopped him about 12:50 a.m. Jones is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.11:53 p.m. Tuesday — Jeffrey M. Thompson Jr., 24, of New Castle was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 108 and Barron Road in Worth Township.5:05 p.m. Sunday — Derrick B. Shultz, 42, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after his vehicle broke down on Route 173 near Fox's Pizza in Slippery Rock Township. Shultz also faces charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.2:15 a.m. Sunday — Kyle J. Hilliard, 21, of Renfrew was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Old Plank and Litman roads in Butler Township.8:30 a.m. Saturday — A 65-year-old Clearfield Township woman was apparently the victim of an unknown con man. The woman told police that she believed she was applying for a federal grant when the suspect instructed her to send $200 by wire transfer for the processing fee. She complied and lost the money. Police issued this warning: “Anytime you are asked to wire transfer money, it is a scam.”March 24 — Matthew A. Hertzig, 32, of Concord Township was charged with illegally trying to buy a pistol from a Washington Township gun store last year. Police allege Hertzig lied on his application to buy the firearm at Logan's Gun Gallery on North Washington Road.In completing a federal form required to buy the .22-caliber pistol, Hertzig wrote Aug. 2 that he was not convicted of certain crimes that would prohibit him from having a gun.But when his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase due to his criminal record, court documents said.Hertzig is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm and unsworn falsification to authorities.

10:25 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Melanie A. Lowrey, 71, of Foxburg was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle on Route 322 in Paint Township The SUV driver, Amelia F. Hargenrader, 22, of Lucinda, was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.Hargenrader was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
