Authorities say identity of threat source known

JEFFERSON TWP — The South Butler County School District knows who made a bomb threat to the high and middle schools over the weekend.

School police, in conjunction with state and local law enforcement determined the identity of the person responsible for anonymous social media postings implying there was a bomb at the school complex on Dinnerbell Road.

The district did not release any information about the alleged perpetrator.

The investigation, which included extensive interviews, determined the information posted was baseless.

Classes were held Monday because nothing was found during a search of the complex. In addition to school police, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s office used a bomb-sniffing K-9.

The district will continue enhanced security protocols in school buildings as a precaution.
