Karns City man accused of witness intimidation, retaliation

A Concord Township man is facing multiple charges after state police said he retaliated against a person he was accused of threatening in a previous case.

Michael Freedline, 61, was charged Friday, Oct. 9, with one felony count each of retaliation against a witness and intimidating a witness, as well as misdemeanor disorderly conduct, following an incident the previous day.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Barracks Road for a report of mischief.

Police said at about 9:10 a.m., Freedline threw lag screws in front of the person’s car, causing a tire to deflate. Police said the screws were thrown at the last second so the person could not brake or stop. The person also told police Freedline yells vulgar language whenever he sees them.

Police said Freedline is also charged with terroristic threats in a separate case involving the same person and that person believes Freedline is retaliating due to the active case.

Freedline is being held in Butler County Prison without bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 20 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
