Friday — Police charged Aaron W. Bender, 25, of Butler with making a false reports to law enforcement authorities after he allegedly lied Thursday about a hit-and-run crash.Bender told police someone overnight had struck his car while it was parked on Wallula Avenue near his Center Avenue home. The car was damaged, but officers found no evidence such as broken glass, paint flakes or skid marks that the crash had happened there.Bender later changed his story, saying the purported hit-and-run crash probably happened overnight in Chicora.10 p.m. Thursday — Jeremy J. Rivera, 19, of East Butler is accused of attacking 19-year-old Kenneth Denzer Jr. of Center Township at a basketball court on West Jefferson Street.Rivera, who apparently believed Denzer had vandalized his car with paintballs, tackled Denzer and punched him in the eye and forehead several times.Rivera is charged with simple assault.5:22 p.m. Wednesday — Ronald L. Barker Jr., 42, allegedly assaulted Shelly Ann Lewis during a domestic dispute at his North Elm Street home. Barker is charged with simple assault.

5:50 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Paul Squilla, 44, of Pittsburgh struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.10:20 p.m. Thursday — Abram T. Barker, 33, of Ford City, Armstrong County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his SUV collided with a car on Route 422 near Route 68 in Summit Township. Quinton M. Clark, 23, of Butler was driving the car.10:36 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Morgan R. Pyles, 17, of Butler crashed on Eagle Ridge Lane in Connoquenessing Township. Pyles is charged with driving without a license and driving at an unsafe speed.March 14 — A 37-inch Vizio LCD television was reported stolen in a burglary at a home on Beaus Drive in Muddy Creek Township. The break-in occurred between March 4 and 14.March 12 — An 81-year-old Jefferson Township man reported he was targeted by a scammer, who claimed in a letter the victim had won a $47 million lottery. The man was told he had to send by wire $385 in shipping and handling fees to a New Orleans address to claim the prize. The man sent the money but never received the supposed prize.
