11:15 p.m. Saturday — Anthony W. Armentrout, 41, of Butler faces charges after allegedly taking his father's car and not returning it.Police charged Armentrout following a traffic stop on West Jefferson Street and learned the car he was driving had been reported stolen on Sept. 26. Inside the car, according to a police report, officers found a burned marijuana cigarette.The car's owner, 63-year-old Gary Armentrout of Erie, later told police that he previously allowed his son to use the car; however, when his son kept getting parking tickets, the elder Armentrout issued an ultimatum: return the car or buy it.The younger Armentrout, told officers that he wanted to buy the vehicle but that he did not have the money for it. He claimed, however, that his father never told him to return it, the police report said.Police said Anthony Armentrout is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Police released the suspect but told him they were keeping the car until a previous parking ticket was paid.9:48 p.m. Saturday — Cars driven by Shauna Henry, 30, of Black Lick, Indiana County, and Richard D. Zitalone, 70, of Butler Township collided at West Jefferson and North Chestnut streets. Police said Henry was cited for not stopping at a red light.3 p.m. Saturday — Cars driven by Joshua A. Etzel, 18, of Summit Township and Joseph E. Brown II, 28, of Fenelton collided at South Monroe and East Jefferson streets.
Saturday — A burglar stole a flat-screen television, TV surround sound system, coffee pot and blender from a camper trailer at the Slippery Rock Campgrounds in Worth Township. A West Mifflin, Allegheny County, man owns the property that was stolen between Thursday and Saturday.Saturday — Someone broke into a Slippery Rock Township apartment between Jan. 2 and Saturday and made off with a 36-inch Dynex television with a built-in DVD player, a Nintendo Wii video gaming system, four remote controllers and four video games. A 20-year-old Cabot woman owns the property that was taken from the Keister Apartments.Saturday — Nothing was reported taken from a garage in a burglary at a home on Deer Road in Marion Township. The break-in happened between Thursday and Saturday.12:17 p.m. Jan. 10 — An unknown thief scammed a 45-year-old Butler area man out of $400. Police said the suspect called the victim and told him he owed money to a company. The victim supplied the caller with his credit card number.Later, the man called the company and found that he did not owe any money. But by then, $400 had been charged to his credit card.
1:15 a.m. Sunday — An unknown burglar stole money from a lock box after prying open a metal door at Frank's Truck Wash on Log Cemetery Road in Barkeyville.Sunday — Eighty prescription painkillers were taken from a home in the 200 block of River Avenue in Emlenton. The unknown burglar threw a brick through the back door to get into the house between 11:50 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.Saturday — A would-be thief tried to break into a vending machine at the rest area on Interstate 80 in Irwin Township. The suspect failed to open the machine but caused an estimated $25 in damage. The attempted theft happened between 5:20 and 6 p.m.
Jan. 14 — Someone stole $260 and a gift card from a 15-year-old boy's wallet that was in a locker at the Grove City YMCA on Route 58 in Pine Township. The theft happened between 4 and 9:45 p.m.
