State Police, Butler
Saturday — Six 12-volt batteries were stolen from a golf cart at the Slippery Rock Campground in Worth Township. The theft happened between October and Saturday.
4:52 p.m. Friday — Robert J. Badger, 86, of Prospect suffered moderate injuries when the car he was driving pulled in front of a pickup truck in Prospect. Badger pulled out of the Fairground Market parking lot on Route 422 and into the path of the pickup driven by Robert S. Grubbs, 33, of Prospect.
Badger, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for about 45 minutes, following the wreck. Badger was cited for improperly entering or crossing a road.
6:13 a.m. Friday — Nathan D. English, 33, of Butler was hurt when a tire broke off a tractor-trailer and hit his pickup truck on Route 422 about two miles west of Route 528 in Muddy Creek Township.
English, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
The freak accident happened when the rear passenger side trailer tire broke loose from the axle and began rolling across the highway. The tire hit the driver’s side door of English’s pickup.
Daniel L. Loughry, 37, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., was driving the rig.
A short time later, another tractor-trailer, driven by Ryan M. Bucynski, 31, of Cresson, Cambria County, struck the broken off tire.
Police said Loughry faces several tickets for violating commercial vehicle inspection regulations.
Friday — Someone spray painted racial slurs on the building at EverDry Waterproofing in Forward Township. The vandalism, which happened between midnight and 5 a.m., caused about $500 in damage. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
Thursday — A 23-year-old woman is accused of leaving bags of garbage at the Christ is the Answer Church on Westminster Road in Clinton Township. The suspect, Sarah Dodgson of Butler, faces a charge of scattering rubbish.
Oct. 8 — A boy and girl broke into a seasonal house in Connoquenessing Township on Oct. 7 or 8 and stayed the night there. Police did not identify the young couple, who face charges of trespass. A 52-year-old woman from Easton, Northampton County, owns the house on Grouse Road
State Police, Kittanning
1:50 a.m. Saturday — A 23-year-old Westmoreland County man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 in East Franklin Township. Police did not identify the suspect, from Arnold.
Friday — Donald Toy Sr., 72, of Kittanning was arrested after he allegedly attempted to buy a gun last year at an East Franklin Township store under false pretense. Toy tried to buy the gun Nov. 22 at the Walmart at Hilltop Plaza.
He charged with making a false statement to unlawfully buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.
State Police, Mercer
9:03 p.m. Friday — A 17-year-old Freeport boy lost control of his car while changing the radio station and crashed on Route 28 in North Buffalo Township. The car went off the road and traveled up a small embankment before sliding sideways and losing its right rear tire.
Three other 17-years-olds, two girls and a boy, were riding in the car. No one was injured. The driver, who they did not identify, was cited for careless driving.
Friday — A burglar broke into a house on Centertown Road in Wolf Creek Township. Unspecified property was stolen from the break-in that happened between Jan. 6 and Friday.
State Police, New Castle
2:30 p.m. Saturday — An unknown motorist drove away after crashing into a fence post along Frew Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
