7:30 a.m. Tuesday — A 43-year-old man from Joliet, Ill., who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on the Route 422 on-ramp at Route 356 in Butler Township.7:30 a.m. Monday — A Westmoreland County man was hurt when the car he was driving struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Route 268 just north of Oak Road in Fairview Township. Jeffrey A. Forschner, 61, of Murrysville, Westmoreland County, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.5:36 p.m. Friday — Two people were hurt, at least one seriously, in a three-vehicle crash in Clearfield Township.The wreck happened when a car driven by Jonathan P. Young, 21, of Butler and a pickup truck driven by Jonathan P. Young, 49, of Butler collided at Route 422 and Clearfield Road. Following the collision, the truck hit a stop sign and guardrail and the car struck another car driven by Priscilla L. Schoch, 30, of Fenelton.The older Young and a 17-year-old boy riding in the younger Young's car suffered moderate to major injuries, according to a police report. Both needed hospital treatment. Both were wearing seat belts. Police said the younger Young was cited for improperly entering or crossing a road.

July 23 — An unknown thief stole $1,240 worth of tools from Sandy Lake Implement on Sandy Lake Road in Sandy Lake Township. The tools, which belong to a 53-year-old New Wilmington man who works at the business, were taken between March 12 and July 23.Among the tools that were stolen were assorted sockets, torque wrench and a break bar.

Monday — Police filed drunken driving and speeding charges against Brandon Merlino, 26, of Portersville stemming from a traffic stop about 2:50 p.m. July 3 at Route 388 and Old State Road in Shenango Township.Sunday — A 32-inch television and digital antenna were stolen in a burglary at a home on Sylvania Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The break-in happened between July 17 and Sunday.10:30 p.m. Friday — Four empty suitcases, one black and three brown, were found on Old Ash Road in Plain Grove Township. The owner or owners can claim the property by calling police at 724-598-2211.
