Wednesday — Police filed drugged driving charges against Lisa A. Bowen, 43, of Butler Township, who is accused of crashing her car into the side of the A-Plus convenience store on West Jefferson Street about 7:30 p.m. April 4.The store building sustained only minor damage and Bowen was apparently uninjured. Police, however, suspected she was impaired by drugs. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Police recently obtained the toxicology report that showed Bowen had the sedative lorazepam in her system. She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving.8:53 p.m. Tuesday — Belinda Lee Diaz, 37, was arrested after she allegedly threatened a neighborhood family with a shotgun outside her home in the 300 block of East Locust Street.Diaz is accused of accosting 45-year-old Lisa Bishop, her boyfriend, 41-year-old Charles Ragland, and their 13-year-old son, who were out walking their dog.The defendant came out of her house with the shotgun, according to court documents, and warned the family, “Don't come any closer or I'll blow your (expletive) heads off.”Police suspect the confrontation stemmed from an incident a week earlier when Diaz's dog attacked Ragland's dog on the street.Two other neighbors, 24-year-old Donna Larkin and 56-year-old Charles Dickey, meanwhile, told police they witnessed Tuesday's armed confrontation. At that time, documents said, there were other people, including a number of neighborhood children, outside and potentially in harm's way.During the altercation, police said, Diaz's live-in boyfriend, 26-year-old Robert V. Wagoner, allegedly threatened Larkin and Dickey.Diaz was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.Police cited Wagoner for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
4:15 p.m. Wednesday — An Armstrong County woman was seriously injured in a rear-end crash on Route 422 in front of the Kirk W. Weber Chiropractic office in Clearfield Township.Luan E. Morris, 53, of Worthington was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with injuries police described as “major.” Her condition was not known this morning.Police said Morris was making a left turn into the office when a pickup truck struck the back of her sport utility vehicle. Daniel J. McPherson, 24, of Pittsburgh was driving the pickup.A car driven by Autumn L. Hunia, 27, of Kittanning, meanwhile, came upon the wreck and sustained minor damage from the debris left by the rear-end collision. The highway was closed for about two hours. Worthington and East Butler volunteer firefighters assisted police at the scene.Wednesday — Hundreds of DVDs and several airsoft pistols were stolen in a burglary at a camp on Lang Lane in Worth Township. The break-in happened between Sunday and Wednesday.Wednesday — An unknown thief stole a pair of global positioning system devices after breaking into four unlocked vehicles in the area of Moran Road in Summit Township. Along with the GPS devices, a knife, spotlight, flashlight and $10 in change were stolen from the vehicles between 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.Tuesday — Brandon S. Weston, 21, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 near the Clearview Mall in Center Township.
5:19 p.m. Tuesday — Ronald Lee Gauker, 43, was arrested after he allegedly threatened to shoot his girlfriend, 41-year-old Marianne Allen, and shoved and punched his 17-year-old son during a domestic dispute at the family’s home on French’s Corners Road in East Franklin Township.Gauker was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $5,000 bail.Tuesday — An unknown identity thief used a 39-year-old Templeton man’s stolen bank debit card to make numerous unauthorized purchases in the Kittanning area.Tuesday — An orange, 1993 Ingersoll tractor with a 60-inch mower deck was stolen from M&M Limestone in Nichola Road in West Franklin Township. Also taken in the theft between April 11 and Tuesday was 100 gallons of diesel fuel.Police noted the tractor may have been parked on Hays Road in the Fenelton area for a day or two after it was stolen.Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
