6:09 a.m. Wednesday — Justin Irwin, 33, landed in jail after police were called to his home on South Street for a reported disturbance. Officers got there and learned the noise was from an argument between Irwin and his girlfriend.While at the home, according to a police report, officers spotted what they believed was marijuana in the home's basement. After police informed Irwin that he would be charged with misdemeanor drug possession, he started screaming at officers.Officers told Irwin to stop yelling but he wouldn't. Police, who believed the suspect was intoxicated, arrested him and placed him in the city's holding cell until he got sober. Police said he is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness.5:10 a.m. Wednesday — Ashlyn M. Vlassich, 26, of Butler was arrested on a warrant following a traffic stop on West Cunningham Street. Vlassich, a passenger in the car, was placed in the Butler County Prison for the warrant. Police said the driver, Edward C. Fink, 26, of Butler, was cited for driving without a license.Wednesday — Police filed drug charges against Joel A. Fobes, 29, of Oakland Township stemming from a traffic stop at 4:26 p.m. March 3 on South Chestnut Street. Fobes was driving the car that officers stopped for a damaged taillight. Police also learned that the vehicle's registration was expired.The car was towed. An inventory search later turned up two hypodermic needles in the center console, according to a police report. Fobes' wallet, found on the back seat floor, contained 18 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a rock of suspected crack cocaine.Fobes is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, and a vehicle equipment violation.Tuesday — Amber S. Young, 34, of East Brady, Clarion County, is accused of a felony count of access device fraud for allegedly using a Butler woman's bank debit card to rack up hundreds of dollars in unauthorized purchases last month.Young initially used the card Feb. 23 at a convenience store in Clarion, according to court documents. On Feb. 26, she allegedly accessed the card at an automated teller machine in Butler.Police said that on Feb. 27, she used the card three times — twice at a store and once at a fast-food restaurant — in Butler Township.In all, documents said, her fraudulent purchases added up to $764.24.
12:25 a.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Jordan Lengel, 19, of Mercer crashed on Campus Drive near East Main Street. Lengel told police that just before the wreck he experienced a problem with the vehicle’s suspension.
