5:52 p.m. Sunday — A thief made a clean getaway after stealing a load of clothes from a dryer at the laundromat on Pillow Street. The clothes, owned by a Lyndora man, are worth about $100.4:47 p.m. Sunday — Robert A. Schmeider, 89, of Butler was hurt in a two-car crash at West New Castle Street and North Sixth Avenue. Schmeider was riding in a car driven by Jane S. Hodak, 56, of Butler that collided with a car driven Richard Zitalone, 67, of Butler Township.Schmeider, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Hodak was cited for a stop sign violation.2:20 p.m. Saturday — Timothy Houtz, 27, of Butler was arrested on felony assault and other charges after he allegedly attacked 23-year-old Tanya M. Richter during a domestic dispute at her home in the 300 block of West Cunningham Street.Richter told police that Houtz hit and kicked her and strangled her with a shirt sleeve. She said she tried to leave but he could not let her for about two hours.Officers reported that Richter had several injuries including a cut on her head and red marks on her face, chest and legs.Police said they found other evidence of a fight such as a smashed television, a kicked over microwave over and a large hole in the wall.Houtz was gone when officers got there, and police could not immediately find him.On Sunday, officers learned he was at room he had been renting above the Monroe Hotel. Police arrested Houtz there. The report said he made an unsolicited statement that the “only reason he beat (Richter) was because she had set him up.”Houtz was placed in the Butler County Prison on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and unlawful restraint.3:02 p.m. Friday — David T. Hrubovcak Jr., 37, of Butler was arrested for felony shoplifting after he was spotted allegedly stealing a bottle of tea, two packets of coffee and a greeting card worth a combined $3.49. Hrubovcak, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, was arraigned on a charge of felony retail theft, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.Thursday — A 4-foot-by-6-foot American flag was stolen overnight from the North Street Christian Church.
8:15 p.m. Saturday — An unspecified gun was found on Route 8 near Mahood Road and the Unionville fire hall in Center Township. The owner can claim the firearm by calling police at 724-284-8100.5:09 p.m. Saturday — Brian J. Connors, 28, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his motorcycle rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 38 in Allegheny Township. Connors was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.Police said the pickup driver, Michael H. Jordan, 18, of Bruin, was cited for driving with a suspended license.6:35 a.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by David J. Highfield, 55, of Apollo, Armstrong County, hit a deer on Route 356 just southeast of Great Belt Road in Jefferson Township.Friday — A vandal spray painted obscenities on the vehicle of an 18-year-old woman on Cherry Road in Fairview Township. The vandalism happened between 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 6:45 a.m. Friday.Sept. 17 — Someone threw a cement block through a window in the school area of the Cabot United Presbyterian Church on Winfield Road in Winfield Township. The window was smashed between 9 p.m. Sept. 16 and 6:15 a.m. Sept. 17.1:56 a.m. Sept. 1 — Roland Dubois, 52, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Stamm and Kiester roads in Slippery Rock Township.
3:25 a.m. Saturday — An unknown man reportedly robbed a 37-year-old Rimersburg woman of her purse while she walked on Master Road about one-quarter mile north of Route 338 in Richland Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 814-226-1710.
6:04 a.m. Sept. 5 — Donna M. Miller, 54, of Ford City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 at exit 16 in Harrison Township, Allegheny County.
