Monday — Police reported they are investigating a pair of recent break-ins at homes on Bessemer Avenue.A door at one of the homes was forced open and a copper water line stolen. The home was unoccupied. The burglary was discovered Friday but investigators don't known when the break-in happened.In the other burglary that occurred earlier this month, an aluminum storm door and door knob were stolen from a vacant house.Police did not immediately say if they have any suspects or if they believe the crimes are connected.Monday — Police charged a Cumberland County man with damaging two motorcycles while intoxicated about 1:30 a.m. May 16 in the parking lot at the Days Inn on Route 8 south. Michael E. Silva, 26, of Mechanicsburg is charged with misdemeanor and summary counts of criminal mischief. He also was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.7:45 a.m. Saturday — Two men were hurt when vehicles they were driving collided on Route 8 south in front of the Country Town store. Andrew Revello, 22, of Highland Heights, Ohio, and Richard Leach, 48, of Belle Vernon, Fayette County, were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.Police cited Revello for making an improper left turn.3:27 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Stephanie Simpson, 40, of Rimersburg, Clarion County, rear-ended another vehicle on Benbrook Road at Route 8. The other driver, Bonnie Aubrecht, 40, of Valencia was stopped in traffic when her vehicle was hit. Police said Simpson was cited for careless driving.3:11 p.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by Victoria Fogel, 17, of Butler struck the back of another vehicle on Route 68 at Campus Lane. Theresa Garcia, 50, of Butler was the other driver, who was stopped in traffic.
Friday — James T. Fox, 21, of Mars was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a one-car crash about 11:25 p.m. May 24 on Green Lake Drive. When police got to the wreck, Fox admitted he had consumed eight beers that evening, according to court documents.A blood test later showed Fox's blood-alcohol level at 0177 percent, or more than double the 0.08 percent level considered intoxicated under state law.May 21 — Police charged Mitch W. Hollobaugh, 31, of Butler Township with drugged driving in connection with a 5:10 p.m. May 14 traffic stop on Myoma Road.Results of a blood test later showed Hollobaugh was allegedly impaired by the prescription drugs clonazepam and alprazolam, court documents said.Clonazepam is an anti-anxiety medication that is also prescribed for sleep disorders. Alprazolam is the generic name for the anxiety medication Xanax.Hollobaugh is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.
Friday — Police charged Michael R. Gregg, 31, of Butler with stealing more than $700 in scrap metal from his former employer earlier this year. Gregg allegedly took stainless steel and carbon steel coils from Fibercon International on West First Street.The business discovered the theft April 7. According to court documents, Gregg admitted to a company official that he took the materials. He subsequently resigned from the company.Police suspect Gregg on three occasions took the stolen property to MRC Scrap Metals in Butler, where he traded it for cash. The estimated value of the property is $768. The scrap value is $247.50.Gregg is charged with three counts each of theft and receiving stolen property.Friday — Joseph A. Macaluso, 23, of Mars was charged with drunken driving in connection with a 12:52 a.m. March 22 traffic stop on North Washington Street near Howard's Auto Care.A blood test later showed Macaluso's blood-alcohol level at 0.159 percent, court documents said. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. He is charged with driving under the influence.
5:18 p.m. May 25 — Christin Wilson, 30, of Grove City lost control of his car and struck a culvert at the driveway of a home on South Center Street just west of North Liberty Road in Pine Township. Police said Wilson was cited for a lane violation.
